Update on LS1 Brake upgrade, need responses quickly...

please and thanks

Hey guys, the guy that I was gonna buy my brakes from just got word from FedEX and they say its gonna take close to 2 months for the packages to be delievered to me!!

I'm not sure i wanna wait that long!

Its just front brakes... How much would I pay for new rotors and pads from Lordco? I know i've seen a few of you guys say you have hook ups there!!

I'm thinking I might just go this route, or maybe even just get my current rotors turned and buy new pads and use the extra cash to save towards some headers...

So how much for rotors? Nothing fancy, I don't want/need slotted or crossdrilled.. I just want something to last me a year or so until I get bigger wheels and the C5 upgrade...

Hopefully someone can respond quickly with some info, as I need to let the guy know soon if I still want them (I've already paid, but he's willing to give me a full refund as he screwed up on the shipping dates)

thanks!!

Jeff

I just called a Lordco here in Vancouver and got some prices:

Cheap Brand = Lordco Brand
Better Brand = Aimco (I think he said)

Rotors
Cheapo's: 40 bucks each, Front or Rear
Better: 88 bucks each, Front or Rear, roughly the same price

Front Pads
Cheapo's: 48 bucks
Better: 66 bucks

Rear Pads
Cheapo's: 40 bucks
Better: 88 bucks

So I could go with the cheapo rotors and rear pads and good pads upfront for a total of around 266 bucks, for all new pads and rotors

Or some mix and match of the above, either way, i'm looking at about 100 bucks cheaper then the LS1 front upgrade that has 60,000 miles of use on the rotors and pads...

I would end up selling the LS1 upgrade in a year or so anyways, so perhaps thats not the route to go...

I might even get away with just turning my rotors, but I don't even know how to tell if they require it...

My car kind of studders when I come down on the brakes, the steering wheel shakes and the whole front end feels like its going to come apart sorta thing

If I run my fingers across the rotors, there are no really big dents or gouges or anything of the like, but much like a record i can feel some very faint 'lines' scored into them... But maybe thats enough to throw things off balance *shrug*

Any input is always apprecaited,

Thanks guys

Jeff

Where the heck does he live?

Try getting it shipped by UPS or USPS maybe? If you want cheap LS1 rotors try to find some KVR, autozone or Brembo blank rotors.

autozone rotors I think have to bought from the US. Brembo rotors are about $60 USD each from tirerack.com http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/bremb...otor++%28Ea%29

He's in Ohio, or close to there...

But i'm considering just LT1 rotors now... And skipping the LS1 upgrade... Just step up to the C5 next year

I second your idea to skip the LS1 upgrade altogether. I personally like the Z06 setup - worth the $$$ IMO and many sets can be found for relatively cheap.

BTW - There's no way in h3ll that it should take more than 10 business days for Fedex shipping within North America ground delivery. Something is definitely not right...kinda like the seller trying to back out of the deal by souring the sale conditions. Just my $0.02 .

Good luck.

A.

The LS1 and Z06 set is not much different at all....you can find a couple Z06 brake set-ups for 300.00 on www.corvetteforum.com, Jeff, if shipping is a problem for this guy, ship it to Point Roberts....I'm there once a week now

As anyone done a refund with Paypal? I paid via credit card and i'm curious if the refund would go directly to the credit card, or would the funds stay in my paypal account?

I've heard horror stories when dealing with Paypal and I'd like to keep my transactions with them as simple as possible in order to try to stay away from their horrid customer service issues...

I'm still not sure on what i'm going to do tho, as I could turn around and sell the LS1 upgrade once I step up to the C5 hardware

But sleeper, where in point roberts would I get this stuff shipped too? And thanks for the offer man!! I'm leaning towards still getting this stuff, and your help in picking them up would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
