Throttle cable snapped?

or so I think anyway. Luckily I was only a few kms from home so I managed to limp it back. Anyway, the gas pedal is dead, no lift to it at all. Is there something obvious that I should/can check out first?

Re: Throttle cable snapped?

just the cable and linkage not much to check. Check the cable at the tb and the pushrod and linkage on the pedal. I snapped my cable believe it was in the range of 40 bucks from GM

Re: Throttle cable snapped?

Hey there Darrin, I guess you took that old saying to heart...
"pedal to tha metal". Hope it's nothing too serious. How's
everything in the Kootney's these days?
Cheers!

Steven...

Re: Throttle cable snapped?

I got her all fixed. The cable had come off in the cruise control unit?(where the two cables plug into a small unit then one cable goes to the TB) It looks like the cable had jumped the pulley quite some time ago as there is metal shavings and major wear in the top pulley. How that happened is beyond me. I almost think it probably came from the factory messed up. Ive noticed that my throttle response has been getting worse lately and the slow wear of the pulley would explain that.

The throttle response is awesome now. I didnt really even notice that my cars performance was getting so bad. I feel like Im driving a brand new machine again.

Things are going great Steven. When you going to take these springs off my hands?

Re: Throttle cable snapped?

Did you replace the cable ?? Take it from me and Chris , do not drive in a car with a worn or damaged throttle cable . . . . bad things can happen.

Re: Throttle cable snapped?

The cable looked fine and there is only 1/4 inch of play in it with everything hooked up(lifting the pedal to check slack). I will be keeping a close eye on it however. Thx for the warning.
