I too am watching vet prices on e-bay. This one is a beauty with some nice mods and super low mileage. The problem I find from e-bay is the starting bid is no where near meeting the reserve price. The "buy it now" price is 38 grand US and the reserve is usually closer to the buy it now than the starting bid. I always ask the seller what the reserve price is to save me some time. But I would say the "buy it now" price is reasonable compared to what you would pay for that Z06 up here in Canada. The electron blue is an awesome colour and it even has a multimedia dvd screen. Man I could go for this Z06 too but I'm spending too much on home reno's right now. I'm thinking I might be able to swing a vet deal later this year or next. I've decided not to part with the hawk period. My sights are set on a smokin deal like this on a C5 or waiting for the mighty C6.

Steve, when do u see the biggest drop in C5 prices?

my plan is that these prices will lower when the C6 comes out... i'm not looking for a Z06 or anything, but in 1 yr, i finish my bachelors, in 1 yr after that i will finish my post grad, then i'll be in my CA program, earning good enough coin to get a 01 C5, i'm hoping in the $20k US (from the states) for a mint one... now this is in about 3 yrs... tell me if i'm off base, cuz u seem to know ur stuff re: US vette prices...

I'd say you hit the nail on the head. The C5 prices will drop for sure when the new C6 hits the dealerships, you can already reserve your order. There are alot of C5 vets out there, just look in the paper now. Ian, you'll be in great shape to score a awesome deal next year. We will have to see how many C5 owners are willing to upgrade to the C6 before we can calculate how low the C5 prices will go. If anything, depreciation will work to your advantage.

Oh yah, in 3 years you'll easily find a C5 for $20K US, how mint it will be will be another issue, since the longer you wait, the harder it will be to find a mint condition/low mileage vette.
Right now there are some '99, 2000 mint ones for mid 20's. (coupe)

That is an incredible car.

I would sell my left nut for it to be mine for free.......would hardly be a fair trade though....

As many of you guys know, I have a very cool / tolerant wife, but shes pretty much putting her foot down on me buying a vette with the TA in the garage and basically she is of course right.

She's OK with buying a 4 door performance car - 300c or CTS V - but buying a vette will result in me having to sleep in it.

Candidly, the only reason my eyes and pocket book are wandering is because I still don't have the TA on the road and shes right there too. If I was driving the TA now I would not even be looking.

I got to show some self control I guess.

Well I'm home all day today. Steve is coming at 1.00 to do some work on his Hawk and I'll be starting to put the engine bay back together. I'll also be watching the hockey game on the BIG screen. Gita is at work from about 12.30 and will be home about 7.30.

if you want to work around any of that schedule, then I hope to see you.

As nice as your TA is Shaun I'd consider putting it back together and parting with it to keep the wife happy. That way you can get the Corvette or Viper that we both can't stop thinking about. That or stash the bird and say you sold it!
