Thats it. Season over.

Well the car is sitting by the side of the road on Hwy 10 waiting for a tow truck. It started playing me up on the way home. When I gave it a little gas it started to stumble and run very rough. It got quickly and progressively worse to the point of dieing. Chances are the plugs have fouled with oil.

So in the garage it goes.

I have LOTS of dreams for the upcoming winter. In fact, if I decide to go "the full monty", the car may possibly be in the garage through next summer as well as things will probably take a long time and more accurately cost too much. We will have to see.

Wish me luck

PS: Cory. You doing anything for the next 6 months. LOL

sh*t son ... u having NO luck with this car eh

here's something worth thinking abuot

sell ur motor... make a coupla good investments, and order up a stroked LS1 from MTI with 450 rwhp and spray 200 shot of nitrous when u line me up ...

other than that . i think ur the unluckiest person when it comes to modding their car

it could also be a small little problem .. like a burnt wire .. sensor or something coming loose in ur DFI

its prolly your plugs shaun, I would get stumbles because of oil on my plugs, it took the LTCC to fire through the oil, when I took out my plugs, 1 was all oil, but it was firing, its funny because I put it into my dad's car just to see how good the LTCC was & strated the car, you know plug on the intake just looking at it & it wouldn't fire at all, pluged my LTCC into my dad's car (5 min job putting it in ugly) & it fired real nice, I love my LTCC, I mean it masked the problem with my burning oil but that just shows how strong the LS1 coils are makes total sense though, opti has 2 places where the spark has to jump, LTCC has only 1 place which is the plug & short as heck wires "3 inches long".

I love the LTCC, but thats besides the point

Sorry to hear Shaun.

My wife actually drove past you there (recognizing the car), saw you with the hood up, turned around, and came by to see if you needed a ride or something. She pulled up ahead of you in her red Nissan 240 SX, but obviously she pulled over too far ahead because someone else stopped in a truck to grab you. Did you notice a red car just ahead of you about 100 feet before you were picked up?

Hope everything works out. But if the 'full monty' involves you stripping your clothes off, I don't want to hear anymore.

Sorry to hear that Shaun, but maybe its a sign that you DO need to do something drastic .

A big investment now may save a bigger investment later .

If you need a hand with labour, etc. give me a call!

A.

Hey bud...sorry to hear of your problems with the car!

Andy

Ps: Sorry if this sounds like vulching, but if this "full monty" project requires a larger slick, I'd like to take the ones you have now off your hands...hey, you could offset the cost alittle that way :P

Chris, I DID notice the red car. It pulled out about 100 yards ahead of me and as you say, as I was walking up, another pick up pulled over and picked me up.

Thank Sandy for me, that was very considerate.

Well the motor will come out fairly soon, pehaps the first week of Oct - I hope. Get the rings done (hopefully that is all) and POSSIBLY get the engine broken in on an engine dyno.

LTCC is a definate possability. I have to get the flywheel machined and chat to Mcleod about shimming issues. The car had a bad time getting into first and reverse suggesting the clutch was not disengaging properly. Vaccum pump - (Swedish model), solid intake tube, more polishing of anything aluminum and possibly some more chrome plating. A bunch of dress up parts from MBA. (the list is long) Strip the engine bay completely and get it painted as well as perhaps the gas tank and whole undercarriage. Rewire the engine bay to minimize all the wire crap. Tubular K-member and A-arms. Get some 19 inch rims for the back, 18 for the front on some Nitto's. Custom interior with some leather racing seats. Black interior with suede grey accents. Carbon fibre stick on stuff for the hard plastic pieces. Fancy stereo with DVD and custom fiberglass box for the subs in the back seat as well as custom fiberglass tonneau covers. Custom paint of course. Not decided yet, Black cherry paint with a mega subtle ghost flame, possibly a flaming chicken subltley seen in a radical, yet classical flame job or perhaps I go super modern with more stylized patterns, shapes or murals.

So there you have. The wish list in order of priority but definately a long way from a certainty. Make the car a weekend only machine that wows them at the drag strip, the auto-x, the show circuit, both domestic and import and yet can go get the milk when I want to.

Estimated cost, just a guess - $20,000

*just dreaming*

Thumbs up

Sorry to hear about your problems, it has been a tough year for you. If you need any help let me know. Spend the time and money to do it right the first time this time around. It will equate to a better finished product

Well if it was a case of NOT doing it right the first or second time i wonder understand your observation. Not that I spared the expense to this point. One lives and learns but I'm not sure what I did wrong the first two times to be honest.

Let us know when you want to pull the motor and we will have it out in a couple of hours.

As for your rebuild, I would hope that you will have the block re-machined in addition to just slapping new rings on. Make sure the bores are properly sized and that you have a good hone on your cylinder walls with no scouring. You might end up having to go 0.040 over stock and get some new pistons. If you do this try to drop down to around 8.5:1 compression so you can run even more boost!

I find it extremely fishy that your rings never sealed after your last rebuild. A proper cylinder hone is absolutely critical to getting your rings to seal so please make sure your machinist does this in addition to replacing the rings

Yeah, rather then get new slugs though, I may end up getting a new block, possibly cheaper then new slugs.

But I agree, until the motor taken apart, I donot know what caused the problem.
