Suggestion for club - Associate members

I just thought I'd suggest this as a number of other clubs do it - though not necessarily car clubs. Some of you might think this is too complicated, and you may be right.

We have two classes of members in the club: Full members and Associate members. The Full Members would be those that pay the $40 (or whatever we settle on) and have a mandatory number of meetings they need to attend, etc... The Associate members can be those people who (for one reason or another) cannot commit to a minimum number of meetings (for them, the club may be more of a casual thing that they want to be apart of but don't want to necessarily go to every metings, etc...) and make their rate 75% of the full membership cost. I'd hate to see anyone excluded just because they can't make all the meetings, but at the same time, we have to have a main 'core' of people who will be fully committed. Having two levels of membership can accomplish this.

The full members would have to have certain privileges over the the associates. Perhaps Full members get part of their track, show 'n shine, and dyno fees partially funded by the club (for any group sessions) or something to that effect. I.e. the club could pay the entrance fee for a show (up to $10), etc.

Good idea....might attract more membership revenues that way.

I think that is a good idea Chris, this is something we should discuss in depth at the next meeting. We will need to decide what kind of benefits Associate members get

Yeah, I know it means more work...

Maybe Associates just get the basic decal or something and a membership card. Or just the membership card. I think for most people who'd want to be casual associate members, they'd probably like to just be 'affiliated' with the club as a source of info and as a "group of guys" to occassionally get togther with. They'd likely not want anything too serious.

Maybe we can arrange a discount (10-20%) for purchases through Lordco and a Chevy/GM dealer (parts department). For both Full and Associate members, I think a lot of people would find this an attractive enough reason to join. An Associate member would get the discount and memebership card, whereas we could do a little more for the Full members (ie sponsorship).

We should be able to find a dealer willing to give us a club discount (Preston, Dueck, etc...), and Lordco has always been god about giving a 20-30% discount on parts to groups.

I might be able to hook something up at Barnes Wheaton on Scott road. Formally Ed Klassens. I used to work there and they have a Grand National get together every tuesday supposedly. I alsoknow the parts guys as well.

Also Camaro Chris sent me a list with over 400 venues that we may think about attending. JD, I was going to type up the most attractive ones and post it on my website so that people could vote, but now that I think about it, we should post it on the BCTF websit. i should have it done by Thursday, so I'll send it to you ASAP

can I let you in on what our club does?

We have a $15 membership fee for ALL memembers. Members dont have to go to any meetings if they dont want to. We do have some that dont show up to many general meetings because they are either living in canada or out of state. With our club You dont have to own a camaro (since our club is a camaro club) just have to like them.

With that memebership you get a Cling, & a Hat pin. & a Membership card with your membership number on it.Plus 6 Newletters a year (news letters are put out every other month)
We also have 13 locations that offer 10%-20% discounds off for us. This also allows Free Listing of any parts & cars for sale or wanted in our newsletter where anyone else its $10 for an ad.

The Officers & area Reps are encouraged (but not reqired) to show up to the monthly board meetings that are held the monday before the General meetings . Any meeting we hold is open to the general membership to show up & add their $.02 in on things.

On the newsletters we mail out anywhere from 260 -290 with memberships hanging about 240 right now.
the others are to fellow clubs, Fellow GM Employees (Mainly Scott Settlemire), & companies that we work closely with.

We also have business cards that have the clubs name on them. Some Members have their information on them as well (Name, phone# & the clubs webaddress)

Tammy
PNWCC South area rep

Bishop's in North Vancouver (vortech and Kenny Bell distributer etc...) has said they would give a discount if we can produce a membership card. I think he said 15% off
