Street Legal bests last friday?

I was away all weekend but I want to hear how some of you did at the strip last friday night (for those who went). I understand CCC didn't fair well... And, what shape was the track in? How were other (non-fbody) cars running?

My brother finally managed to break into the 14s with his little blue Civic hatchback... 14.86 @ 94.9 mph, compared to a previous best of 15.1 @ 95mph. It was rather funny though; on the last run I was sitting and watching him pull up to the line against another car that did a big burnout (my brother just chirped the tires). The guys behind me were making fun of his car. Then he launched and smoked the other guy off the line and just kept walking away all the way down the track... and the guys behind me were like "Wow, look at that sleeper! That's cool man!" His car looks completely stock - the only visible external mods are a Monster Tach on the dash (no stock tach) and a 2 1/4" steel pipe coming out the rear (too cheap to pay for an exhaust tip). At least he's finally starting to run the #s he should.

I couldn't get in in time to race though I was there and ready; I got shut down about 20 cars away from the gate so I had to cheer from the sidelines

Much props to Regan who ran a new PB of 12.29 @ 110mph in his dark green Civic.. and to Eli who ran 13.4 @ 103mph N/A in his little blue Civic.

I tied my best. 13.5 @ 105mph, with a 2.15 60ft.
I can't hook properly since my car has been lowered!
I need LCA relocation brackets.

By the next SL drags I'll install some LCA brackets and my cutout.
My goal is to hit 13.3 @ 106 with street tires. If I get a 1.9 - 2.0 60ft, I should be able to accomplish it

I finaly scored a 12 man !!

.539 rt
2.251 60 ( my best of the day ) mad skillz
8.588 1/8

12.878 @ 117.12 MPH

Phil and Randy helped me dial that in , dropped the tire pressure in the back to 28 #'s to help hold the launch and pilled the nitrous up from 3000 rp to 4000 rpm so I could short shift first gear and get a hold of second with some control .

I ran a 12.62@122.19 on STREET tires but will have some nittos for next time. I really need TRU slicks to hook but I got the nittos for free!!
The cooler kit didn't work right but for next time it will. Maybe the nitrous for next time too!

My buddy (Eric) got a 13.3 with his fresh motor! Way to go Erik. And no tach working either. His MSD box fried. I think he will be pretty good for next time. Slicks Eric?

Duane

Edit: Link for my run. Someone video taped me!!! Thankyou soo much!!

Thumbs up

Duane: nice vid. That haze at the end gives it a cool looking affect! Can't wait to see you hook...

Twitch: MY MAN!!!! Way to go! You need a set of DRs real bad I'm thinking. I'd lend you mine, but you'd probably shred them to bits on the first pass... lol! You got a lot more in that car though.

Musky: common theme this traction issue, isn't it?

raene: thanks for the update. Must admit that a 13-second civic N/A is pretty impressive.

Thanks man !!! Im starting to realize my car will never be a quarter car because I cant commit ( sp ) to the chassis / tire stuff that I will need to transfer weight etc . I agree that it has alot more in it but I wont see it . My buddie wants me to do the chassis and commit the car for drag but my heart isnt in it . I just swapped out my current spring setup for an even stiffer 200 # linear rear and have 500 # fronts going in this weekend so If I thought it was hard to get outa the hole last time

Where were u , we missed you there man

Me? I was in Whistler for a few days. My one year weddin' anniversary.

I used to run my F1s even lower than 28 to get half decent traction. 26 psi seemed to help me.

But if you are going AutoX, I can't fault you there.

I actually looked into hals on ls1.com but was told there not responsive enough for Ax or road racing , more of a street strip shock . I went with the koni adj's as per recomendation but maybe I should have considered them a bit more .
