Seafoam for Up North

Have any of you Canadian guys used this?
I understand that Seafoam can't be had in Canada.
I hear that GM's Top Engine Cleaner is reletively the same thing.
If you have used it - or something like it........what was your experience like?
Thanx in advance.

Here is a post on VIFBODY by CanadianZ:

"After using GM's Top Engine Cleaner (TEC), I can tell you that I am a firm believer in the effectivness of this product. I poured it through a vacuum line in the TB and was absolutely amazed at how well it cleaned out the intake.

I took off the rubber intake boot and looked in the intake before and after I ran the TEC through it. There was definitley and improvment in the amount of visual carbon inside the intake itself.

I have heard of it fouling plugs or O2 sensors if your car is particularly built up with carbon. Also, it might be a good idea to change the oil not long after you do this either.

I think there are a few write-ups on the internet that show how to use Seafoam. I think GM's TEC should be the same.

Like Ben said, I really liked the stuff. It was cheap too. Only $7 I think.

I used a small funnel with a small hose attached and pulled a vacuum line from the passanger side of the throttle body. The line was the middle rubber hose of three connected there.

With the engine running at about 2000 RPM, (I had a friend at the throttle) I slowly poured the TEC in the funnel allowing the car to "drink" it. Once the bottle was a little over half done I dumped the rest in and let the car stall itself.

Let it sit for about 30 minutes and then started it. It was a little hard to start at first but as soon as she fired up there was a huge puff of white smoke from the exhaust and it idled a bit rough.

I took it for a "spirited" drive and after about 5 minutes of driving took it up to redline. (or close) The rough idle stopped and it really seamed to smooth things out a bit.

I wouldn't say I gained any power but I would say throttle response was a bit better. Make sure to have a look in the intake with a flashlight so you can have a before and after shot. (maybe take a before and after pic to post??)

Any questions just let me know and I will try to help ya out.

Be careful if you live in a residential neighborhood as there is a lot, I mean a lot, of smoke while you are doing this. I did it in my drive way and couldn't see the neighbors house. (about 150 feet away!!)

It worked though!!
