Question for LT1 experts

hey y'all...quick question...

Often my fans stays on (all the time I think; could be malfunctioning) and makes a lame sucking sound when the engine isn't even hot.

I want to know if a manual fan switch is nessary or useful in preventing this?

Pardon my ignorance

Andy

Could be the electric water pump??
Thats what was happening with my car. My fans would stay on almost all the time. I thought that I had the incorrect temerature settings to activate the fans. But it was my electric water pump starting to die on me!
This happened twice in a 3month period. I will never buy a electric waterpump again for a daily driver!

Just curious but Did you drill holes in your thermostat to help cool the pump while its shut ?? I heard that will burn them out ( not drilling the holes )

I didn't?? I was running a 160deg thermostat with the fans turning on at 175deg and off at 165deg. So I doubt that it would of caused the pump to get too hot??

Is your AC on? I seem to recall something about cooling fans staying on with AC.

I know the AC definitely kicks in the second fan for an LS1. Do LT1s have one or two fans?

LT1's have two smaller fans, and they work the same as in the LS1 equipped cars.

Only the V6's have one large one.......

I haven't heard anybody having problems with a meizier. Andy has a meizier so he might be ok.
Mine was a CSI. I only had a maximum of 3000kms on each water pump both times they went on me?? I'd really like to get a meizier, but I don't want to get stranded on the highway again. I had to re/re the water pump 4 times within a 3 month period.

Maybe you have a bad ground or something causing the pump to heat up, think of that? I had my CSI for a while now & so has Armen, no problems.
