Question for the experts

Ok My husband has finally decided to change his fuel regulator in his car to a adjustable one. He was talking to some Goof ball at work (NOT NAMING NAMES) LOL that person said that he needed a special tool to take off the Fuel regulator. What tool, & How much is it going to cost me?
Plus is there anything else he should know or should have in order to change this. I know hes getting a Gage But is there ANYTHING else.
Hes trying to be as fast & As bad as some of the other 4th gen camaros at the track.
Tammy

Man this man is getting lucky a brand new sound system, Ordered the last part of it today & the speakers are being picked up tonight. New parts for his car. But in exchange for all that I get the Interior pieces I need for my Pace car lol

No special tool required except to take the fuel rails off you need a fuel line disconnect tool, after that, all that hold the regulator on is a Hex bolt & another hex bolt holding the lines together from rail to trail, take those two off, pop the regulator out & pop the new one in. With new ones ussually you can use the rail connecting bracket & just shove the rail in the regulator & let it just sit there not tied down.

very easy 5 min job once the rail is off which is a 5 min job aswell.

have to ask

why bother going to an AFPR as the computer will compensate soon after the install for the increased pressure?

If you're maxing out your injector PW then compensating by increasing the fuel pressure is the only way to go if you don't want to swap injectors.

Of course this is assuming she will change the injector constant in the PROM.

I suspect it depends on the car - an APFR would have 0 benefit on anything newer than a '94.

The car is a 95 Z 28. The car is no longer stock. we have put larger fuel injectors in it, put a functional ram air hood on it. Both put a larger throttle body descreened the MAF, New Exhaust on the car starting with new headers, cat back & muffler.

But with all this hes still not getting Quite enough fuel in to make fast runs. We had this explained to us at the Track last summer.

there is NO NEED for an AFPR. I am not running one and I am possibly the fastest LT1 in the area.

What he NEEDS to do is reprogram the car correctly. Not like some whit he works with who never worked on OBD cars
