Possible new drag spot SE washington
Hey guys
dont know how many of you checked out the abandoned airprts thread in the lounge, but theres a few abandoned fields around us that i think we could stage some races at. I dont know exactly the legality of it all, but theyre mostly closed airports just sitting there, what could we hurt? Anyways, most of you have probably heard of tri-cities, WA. Theres one ther that would be close for me. What do you guys think? the one in tri-cities is called Ash airport, about halfway down the page:

southwest of spokane? how far is spokane from the cdn/us border? sounds like a great idea, but im sure youd have to have some sort of waiver written up and have people sign before theyd let you race on there. unless your talking about breaking into the airfield and racing at night
and if you click on ash airport at the top of the page it will take you right to it.

Abandoned or lightly used airports have been used before and are a good idea for basic street racing type ideas.
I have raced at Dallespport airport in my area. Every year there is a rod run/rod show in The Dalles, OR. just across the river from Dallesport, WA. called "Neon Nights".
Last year they used a closed off runway at Dallesport airport to run drags the day following the "cruise". The cruise is a Friday night where all the cars and rods cruise the downtown core of The Dalles. Those that don't have cars sit on the roadside and watch the cruise kinda like a big parade.
The races have 3 classes basically stock/street legal, modified,(which my car fit into), and super mod which were all out drag cars/trailer queens.
This year they are trying to do it again but run it two days. They are getting some opposition from some pilots who feel we are jeopardizing them. *shrug* what the hell it is run safely and only one day a year, I guess there is a whiner in every group!

If you're in the tri-cities, why don't you just take it to the tracks that are already available....

Neither one is in the tri-cities, but thats where everyone from the tr-cities goes.
Good luck!

theres just something about heads up racing with no track bs. thats why a lot of guys streetrace. its just a element. if you take it off the street and onto the airport runways, it still gives it a street race feel without the track bs of tech, waiting to be called up, being only able to race domestics( up here anyway, on street legal nights) .
ya i know about renegade and bonanza. I live in Walla Walla, ehich is about 5o miles from pasco. I just think the airport would be more fun. I dont think anyone really owns it, so it owuld have to be a break in at night type of deal, but that would be real cool. One of these days when i am in the area i will scout it out. I have only thus far seen that website, but im interested, as are my other sports car owning friends in the area.
