Question porting and polishing locally????

hey guys just a quick question, where would you recommend I get my TPI unit (runners and plenum) ported and polished???? I wanna get it done somewhere where i might be able to get a discount if anybody has any connections?, preferably here in the lower mainland. I know I could just do it myself but i just dont have the place or time and knowing me I would probably screw it up somehow

thanks for any help!

Chuck the stock units in the garbage and buy the SLP runners and Accel base. They will cost about the same in the end...alittle bit more maybe but with way more power.

My single plain Victor Jr. would have cost $450 to fully port and that's less labour than porting runners and base.

PS= Maybe Matt (bunker) would be interested in doing it?

andy, I just wanted to find a place locally that would do it and get some prices and then compare it to buying all new stuff. Just doing my homework here

I know that the stock tpi isnt great but im not going to build a power monster of an engine and i think that the stock unit will suffice. I could be wrong but that is my opinion.

email my buddy Rob...he IS the local TPI man!!! He'll give you a lot of useful advise because he's tried everything and talked with all the TPI masters before.

thanks andy, ill email him and get his take on this. Just to let you know my plans have kinda changed since the beginning, i dont think im gonna be dumping all my money into just engine cause i still need to do alot of body work and brake and suspension stuff. My budget is extremely tight unfortunately. I think im gonna keep the engine as stock as possible with some minor modifications, i think where im gonna concentrate on the most is suspension and traction.

hey ken, ive been doing some research and alot of people are saying if your not building up some serious power not to put a mini ram or stealth ram cause its just a complete waste of money. ONLY in engines like your 383 would it be truly beneficial.

If you want, I can lend you my die grinder, all you would need to do is rent the compressor and buy some good carbide bits. They go through aluminum like butter. I did my top half (plenum + runners) in a couple of hours.

If you plan on autocrossing, don't tell anyone about the engine mods if you don't want to go into E/SP.

hey tweaked zed, i know about the lt1 intake option but the problem with it is emissions. When they do the conversion to distributor they have to get rid of the EGR and i wana keep my car emissions legal.

and alexH, thanks man you are the first to actually help my cause , let me see if I can find a shop locally that can do it for me, if not i might take you up on that offer., maybe u can show me some tricks that you used when you did yours, we could make it a weekend job

thanks
