Pacesetter Headers...
Just curious if you guys think the extra $100-150 for coating the headers is worth it on Pacesetter LT's. Any bad comments/remarks about Pacesetters?? I've heard pretty good stuff all around! Thanx guys!

Get the coated. They're an excellent price. To get them coated locally would cost twice that, and they look good. I have a set and love them. Decent install. No worse than others.

Re: Pacesetter Headers...
I have Pacesetter Long Tubes on my car, get them coated, they were an easy install, i only had some problems with the y-pipe but it was easily resolved, it was just contacting at some points but that is common with most long tube set-ups, you will need some minor tweaking. Good plug clearence and no problems with leaks, definately an awesome deal

Re: Pacesetter Headers...
I just used the y-pipe Pacesetter sells, and I have no cats. But I will have to add cats in the future for Aircare. My plan is to get a custom y-pipe fabbed up with cats to be able to swap in for emissions testing.
Hmmm. It would be interesting if enough of us had Pacesetters Lts that we could share a catted y-pipe for when we aircare every 2 yrs, and then run an ORP all the time.

Re: Pacesetter Headers...
Are they that thorough with Aircare now? When I worked at a dealership down there I probably took 40 different vehicles through and I dont ever remember one failing because of no cats.
Why couldnt a guy get some old cats, cut them in half, hollow out a 3 inch diamater and bolt them together around the ypipe. Just make it look like you have cats. They would never notice the difference.

Kaos, you are right. They are not that thorough and all they do is check with a mirror that you have them. I'm not sure how a new car would pass emissions w/o cats - I'm thinking that the allowable readings are so tight that you won't do it, compared to an older car's allowable readings (which can get away w/o cats).

I gotta agree with Elgyn on that. Even without cats the LS1 should pass emissions easily. However, I could be way out to lunch on that too. You should go Aircare your car Chriss and see. If Im wrong, Ill pay for it.

Re: Pacesetter Headers...
I have coated Pacesetter LTs and they are really good for the money. Install was a bitch, but that is mainly because I did 90% of it on my own. You almost need a second hand to pull the header up from down below and hold it in place while you try to bolt it on.. Only bad thing is that my headers came with holes in the welds at the flange. I called Pacesetter as soon as I found this and I bitched and blah blah they had to send one to get coated and then they shipped it overnight. Anyways, as long as you don't have holes in your welds then they are great.
