Oregon??
Oregon and now Washington??
Whats it like over there in OR? My fiance is from there, near Portland, and later this month will be my first time on the west coast...
She talks about moving back there, and we might think about it in a few years. She tells me how different it is then the Philly area...
But one of my concerns is about my hobby... She said that she doesn't know of any drag strips, or anything about that type of thing out there.. Do you have any info on this type of stuff near Portland? What is the altitude like she tells me there are mountains and stuff like that, if the tracks have I high altitude that would suck..
Thanks,
John

Re: Oregon??
PIR north Portland, road course and 1/8 mile drags. Woodburn 30 miles south, very nice track, NHRA cert, I've seen the air as low -200 to and as high as +3500, track is about 300 asl. open march thru oct. There are at least six other tracks with in a days drive, Seattle, Abbottsford BC, Bosie, Madris, Coss Bay, Spokane (ahra)
Woosburn runs a points deal for local racers, classes are street, pro, super pro, super gas, comp and sometimes quick 16.=, (7.90 index) Normal weekend may have 200 plus cars. Divisional race, 500-600.

Re: Oregon??
Portland International Raceway runs a point series as well as NHRA certified. They only run 1/8 mile on Wednesdays. Friday and Saturday nights they run kind of a street night racing that is 1/4 mile. They will also be hosting a divisional next year. Woodburn is 30 minutes, Seattle and Bremerton are about 2 1/2 hours, Boise is about 6 hours, Yakima is around 4 hours, Medford is around 4 1/2 hours, I've never been to Coos Bay or Madras, but they are probably within 2 hours drive. Physical elevation as stated before is around 240 feet. Woodburn is around 300 feet. On average, density altitude is usually around 1100 feet.

Re: Oregon??
Actually there are a couple states with no sales tax. Oregon, Deleware, Alaska, New Hampshire, I think Montana doesn't have one either.
New Hampshire kicks ***. No income tax, no sales tax.
Washington is all over the map. Some places it's 8.9%

Re: Oregon??
Bringing this back up...
Now we are married, and still talking about moving out there in the future, so reading back on this post brought up a few really good things about the area...
We have been looking at getting some land in Washington, but not being too far from Portland where her family is. The land prices rock compared to stuff out here, we could sell our house here and the whole .25 acre lot it is on, and could build our dream house on 5+ acres for the same amount.
So how do you guys deal with the rain, I am planning on running a spool on the steet, which would work out here but be deadly out there, right? How often are the track actually open and are there any local f-body clubs or anything out there?
Thanks for the input guys...

This area is tons different from the Philly/East coast. Portland is a cute city. heh.
Once you adjust to the rain, its wonderful out here.
BTW, in Oregon, you can't pump your own gas. Which, is the same way in NJ.
