Opinions

After missing my 93 too much I have decided to get another T/A. Originally I was going to get a 2000 or newer ws6 but that means selling the race car so I will be looking at 95-97 cars. I want 150km or less. Must be black!, And this time a 6 speed is a must. Perferably no damage more than $1000 and the stocker the better.
I cant decide to get t roofs or not, it isnt a big deal but if it comes down to it what would you guys do, Any forth gen leakers? I know what third gens do.

Also If I do a cat backwhat is the best fo sound, flowmaster, borla, dynomax? Big differences? Also will probably be putting in a electric coutout, but where fo you get them.
Thanks for any info.

Re: Opinions

If you can find a way, get a 98+ TA........it's worth the extra money to start with a LS1.
Not only is the engine better, but I myself consider the looks of the 98+ Firebirds far superior to the 93-97's. Different story with the Camaros mind you.....

From what I have read - if you can afford it, a GMMG exhaust has a really nice sound.
Not as loud as the cutout that you plan on getting but a good throaty vibration anyhow.

You can find all sorts of info on electric cutouts if you do a search, it looks like there are 2 or 3 repertable brands.

Good Luck.

I would definantly second the LS1 route and try to stick with your 2k+ train of thought...better intake etc. Shouldn't be hard to find one with low km's...I drive mine ALL year round with many trips going back to AB and it only has 75k on it. And I can vouch for the t-tops...no probs here and of course love 'em in the summer! A 2k+ LS1 should be selling in the high 20k range.

My $0.02

if you putting in a cut out then leave the stock cat back, also whats your budget? you may consider heading down south to look for a cheaper ls1 ws6 TA.

Another LS1 vote here too. Save your cash until spring and re-evaluate your situation then.

Re: Opinions

Ls1's are phenominal but I already have a 11 sec street malibu. This is just to be a reliable/ fast somewhat daily driver and I dont have 20 grand to spend, more in the 10 to 12k range, so a 95 is more likely than a 2000 which I plan to upgrade to next winter. Thanks for all the help, the advice is good and appreciated! Keep it comming

Re: Opinions

Well looking in the auto sales sections in the papers these days I see very few Z28/TA's for sale Seems like people are really hanging on to them or a lot of people are looking for them...
