I change mine once a year.

I put 5L of fresh Mobil 1 Syn. in every start of a season, before I insure the car.

I only drive it about 2K the whole summer though......

For my daily drivers - a Golf and a Blazer, I change the oil every 5K or six months.
The milage is always up way before the time in the Golf - but the Blazer always seems to be right on the money for both.

Remember, you can't change it too often.

Well, if a person had unlimited $$ then you could go ahead and change your oil every couple of months.

What I meant is that - if you changed your oil every month, you can't do any harm, you'll just be throwing away money.

If you're like me, money is scarce and there is never enough.
So I change mine a little less often.

My driver's manual says to change it every 5,000 kilos. You probably could run synthetic longer but why take a chance?

I'm sure its fine. I use Mobil 1 and I'll change it every 5K just to be safe. But really I think I could go a lot longer. With syn, I think a lot oif people change their oil a lot much too often than necessary - but it is cheap insurance to change it every 5K

It won't kill you or your car to run with the oil in there right now after storage.

It all depends on how you drive the car. Lots of short trips in cold weather, change that oil more frequently. Lots of highway driving and you could go 10k easy. I just wouldnt go longer then 6 months of use between changes.

I wouldn't go over 3 month lol, mine on average gets changed every month ever since I got the car, & I use Full Sythetic oil, just switched from MObil 1 to Valvoline since Valvoline is ester based not miniral based like MOBIL 1. Anywho, reason I change it often is because of either some sort of rocker adjustment, lifters being changed, cam being swapped etc... otherwise I'd leave it in there for about 3 month MAX. Remember, whether or not Sythetic has a lower tendancy to degrade then regular miniral oil, it is still oil in the engine that after time gets contaminated from exhaust through the rings & the making of metal by the engine, so if you think you can keep the oil there for 10k, you won't be running very long very good.

Stangely enough matt. Running his engine for 10,000 kms on a oil change he is at a less risk of engine destruction then you are. A engine is best when left alone in all reality the more times you open it up and expose it to the outside world as you do with your own. The more chance of outside contaminents entering your engine. So realistically 10,000 clicks on synthetic is better then giving your motor open heart surgery once a month and giving it fresh oil

A Filter

Is great however it only filters the oil that has already ran through it. It doesnt filter the crap that you accidently drop into your lifter bores that decide the score up a beairing here and there Also installing and uninstalling cams every weekend isnt the greatest for your cam bearings regardless of how smooth you think you just slid it out. All I am saying is that opening something every month to change things out isnt a great way to add to the longevity of a motor. I would honestly prefer driving a vehicle 10,000 clicks then open it up every month for a routinge cam and head swap. But in all reality what do i know. I have never done either before

PCV systems help take care of the crankcase fumes these days pretty well. Another important reason to change oil is moisture, and this is more of a problem on cars in cold weather with cold thermostats, or for cars that are not driven up to high oil temps regularly (i.e. driven for less then 20-30 minutes at a time). If you spend most of your time on the highway getting your oil temps nice and high each trip there is no reason why a good synthetic oil won't last 10 000km. That being said, it might be a good idea to swap the filter more often then that.

i'm confused here, u change ur filter everytime u change ur oil, right... how can u change ur filter with oil in the system (unless u'd use the same oil, but what kind of idiot would do that, mobil 1's on $30 per change at crappy tire)

hey amit, why'd u get free ****, hook us up
