non car related: need your opinion

I'm in a bind in purchasing a couple items. I thought maybe you guys could help convince me to get one over an other.

The two options are...
1) Rockford Phosgate Amp for my Jeep Cherokee
2) Digital Camera

Thanks in advance!

Yes, if ur going with a digital camera, get a cannon for video and Nikon for Still

I highly recommend the "Coolpix" series from Nikon. depending on how much u want to spend the 2800 series to 5200 are the best for normal consumer photograph taking.... 8700 and the D100 or D2H for the highend stuff...

Digi cam, you'd probably have alot more use for it than car audio.

IMO, car audio is a waste of money.

I have a Sony Camera and have no complaints, I like it's features and it was a good value.

As far as installs go... I can do my own stuff. I did my entire stereo in the IROC.

I was looking at the Canon A80 but its really pricey! Its got a lot of features that are great when you need them but honestly I dont think I'd be using them that much. For really high end photos I still have my SLR Camera.

The Casio has a Pentax Lens which is extremely compairable to the A80 lense. Also has an option of 3 year exchange warranty.

Between the A80 and the Casio... its half the price for a similar camera. Of course the quality will be slightly better with the A80 and a ton of more features. Half the features I probably wouldn't even use though.

I have a Sony Cybershot and LOVE IT!!! I compared them all and for my needs, its the best. BTW, get something with an optical zoom, not just digital and get the largest memory card you can get. I have a 256.

The Casio has an optical zoom and a digital zoom... The only thing I dont like is theres no audio for the video feature.

Then again... I'd be buying it for pictures not movies. If I wanted to make movies I'd buy a video camera.

I vote for the camera .

I have the Sony DSC-V1 5 meg camera and really like it . Im still learning how to use all the manual stuff . I would have prefered a smaller camera to take around but the video quality is what really sold me on it and it takes wide angle lenses etc .

On a side note consider getting a tripod for when your taking quality pics in high res . I have a hella hard time holding it still enough and get some pixel shift on 3 meg up .

Ya well, if you put a Superchager on a LS1 SS, I could easily beat a Cobra................wait a min........

What were we talking about?

Oh yea........

I vote for the Camera.
Mostly because I want one.

I think you'll end up getting more use out of it.

Yeah, he's Portugese. He does awsome work, he installed my Alpine deck as well as my Infiity speakers and made it awsome!
I have a hunch he used to work for Audio Video unlimited. All I know is he has a Prelude with 110,000 invested into the sound system!
If you need work, might as well go to him as apposed to future shop who hires some people who might not be too framiliar with your car, do a sketchy job and end up trying to sell you a warranty that they will never honour!

id go for the camera as well.

like others have said canon is a good camera. Im on my 3rd canon in 3 years. (no problems just keep getting a higher MP)

the prices of them should drop as the s500 (5mp) is coming or is out already

i have the s400 and no complaints. the other camera to look at is the sd10. its 4mp, very small and digital zoom...should be around $400

btw if you want an amp i still have mine for sale!

I vote camera too. I have an older Sony Mavica that I bought off of sleeperZragtop and it works well. Canon's have a good rep though, and the next camera I buy will probably be a Canon. I don't like spending money on car audio because I am usually in my car only ~30 minutes a day. That is a small part of my day... I would rather put the money in my home stereo and video equipment.
