Question Need some info about the BC area?

Folks,

I'm chasing after an old ex-girlfriend of mine. No one's held a candle to what I felt for her for over 8 years, so I just either need to make something amazing happen or extinguish the small flame I've been carrying once and for all.

Seeing as I live in Texas, that involves a little bit of travel.

I'm not just showing up on 'er doorstep...She knows that I'm coming, just doesn't respond very quickly to email. That can be a bit hard to work with when you're trying to make travel-plans.

She lives in Williams Lake, BC. It's been a very long time since I visited up there. I do remember that I had to take a big-*** ferry.

Questions:
  • Is there an airport in Williams Lake? If so, what airlines fly there? I have a lot of frequent flier miles from a trip to India.
  • If not, what does the Ferry cost? Can I pretty much pay for anything by credit card, or should I get some cash converted?
  • If there is not an airport in Williams Lake I can fly into, where would I want to fly to get as close as possible without paying an arm and a leg?

Thanks.

Wow! She must have been something special if you are willing to go through all of this. I'll look into it and get you some more details.
As it stands , my guess is that you'll have to take a flight to Vancouver and then connect from there. You can either rent a car or take a bus as well. I don't think you can take a ferry there because it is inland, unless the ferry is a hovercraft capable of scaling mountains There is a hwy that goes there and it is a beautiful drive.
Here's a map to give you an idea bc map
Williams lake is in the bottom half of the province right in the middle.

here's some details on location.
Location: Located at the junction of Highway 97 and Highway 20 to Bella Coola, Williams Lake is 25 km east of 150 Mile House, 120 km south of Quesnel, 234 km south of Prince George, 456 km east of Bella Coola and 540 km northeast of Vancouver.

Williams Lake

Flying into Prince George is probably a good idea. If the speed limit enables it, driving from prince George to WilliamS lake should take you 2.5 hours @100km/hr

Also, if you have time make sure you get a hold of us here in Vancouver. Personally I think of this board as a continent wide community/neighbourhood

Just checked Westjet for you. They have a sale on right now for ~$120 Canadian which is ~$85.00US plus all the Frackin fees!!
It seems to be cheaper to leave from Vancouver than Abbotsford, which is ~1 hour apart. Abbotsford usually has cheaper prices because of lower airport fees (it's outside the city limits.)

You can also check Air Canada. They have a seat sale sometimes, and they do use milage points. Good luck man, and if there is anything else, let us know

Thanks for all the quick responses, guys. I guess I must've mentally mixed up Victoria and Williams Lake -- do you have to take a boat to get to Victoria? Like I said, it's been a while.

I assure you I'm not stalking -- just showing up on this girl's doorstep would be an error in judgment not even I could make. The fact of the matter is that my heart gave itself to her a long time ago, and hasn't seen fit to give many people the time of day since.

We went through years of bad timing...She wanted me back, but I was involved...I wanted her back but she was involved...We're now both single, but she's cautious. There's a lot of tumultous history there. The fact of the matter is that no one else has ever made me feel so alive -- the kind of heart beating so damn hard that it wants to hop right out of your chest alive. That's gotta mean something.

If it means I'm an idiot and there's no chance, so be it. But I guess I need to hear that from her lips. I'd literally be willing to drop my 4-year career at Dell and my house here if I thought this could really happen...And even move up to the damn frozen north (hate the cold) if that's what it took.

hey man it aint that bad up here

u can check out http://www.vifbody.ca/ for vancouver islands exclusive fbody web page .. im sure u'll be more than welcommed there are most of those guys are also on cz28.com

they could help u out in more detail about the island and victoria .. i know there is an airport in victoria, but not sure if many international flights go there ?! just check into it with ur flight agent ..

if u fly to vancouver, u will have to take a few busses to the ferry terminal and a 45 minute ferry over to the island

im sure u wont mind it too much if u moved here .. except there is no 1/4 mile drag strip on the island . ud have ot visit vancouver for that

also, make sure to let us know when u come by man .. we'd love to meet a cz28.com member from texas .. maybe we'll all go out and take u for a cruise or something ..

Actually, it's not the frozen north! Sorry but that misconception perturbs me. Our weather here is just like Seattle's. It rains alot in the winter and fall, but it isn't "frozen"

For victoria, I would recommend flying into Vancouver and then connecting to a flight into Victoria. It's probably more expensive then taking the ferry but you save 1.5 hours. IF you are walking on to the ferry it's only like $9 cad, but if you are taking a car it's $35-45 each way. If you decide to take the ferry, the only thing you have to worry about is getting to the ferry terminal from the airport. You can take a bus, rent a car, or get a ride. When you get tothe other side , you can take a bus straight into Victoria, if I rtemember correctlly , it's like $4.00. Not sure if they have car rental places at the ferry terminal in Victoria.
Just out of curiosity but whe are you planning on coming up here?

Time is a bit up in the air -- I'm hoping before October, but I gotta call up the airlines and check availability with the frequent flier miles and all.

Didn't mean to rub ya'll's feathers wrong with the "frozen north" thing -- you have to keep in mind that, being from Texas, weather in Nashville, TN was "frozen" to me. Snow is very, very rare down here. I'm not sure if that's the case up there since ya'll are near the coast. So, for me, it's a relative thing.

I'd be flying to Williams Lake, not Victoria, so I'm straight now on that.

Isn't she beautiful?

Vancouver is not the frozen north - it is more like the rainy north. We only have snow on the gound for maybe a week out of the year, and it doesn't really get any colder than -5°C in the winter.

I would however, consider Williams Lake to be the frozen north in the winter. It gets very cold there and they get a decent amount of snow in the winter.

Another thing to look out for is the forest fires that are unfortunately occurring in Williams Lake right now. The amounts of smoke may be affecting the flights in and out of there. ?
