My heads update...
Re: My heads update...
IMO a 346ci engine does not need a 225cc head. Look at you cam specs and factor in your displacement and rpm limit. Most 350s can make tons of power with a 170-180 cc intake runner. You'll lose torque with a head that big.

I'm leaning most towards the 205cc runner intake size. I doubt i will go above stock displacement and should be happy with the mid-500 rwhp I can develop with the 346 as is.
Re: My heads update...
Lol! Yeah, there are a few supporting cast members that will be needed later on, such as a beefed up 4l60e or 4l80e, along with the rear end. Tranny first I think. Rest of the set up 'should' be fine though.
But I know, I have small dreams. Happy at mid-5's... I'll be satisfied with having the second fastest f-bod in the group.
Or third fastest. Whatever.

No, he's not out of business... he's just very weak at Customer Service. I've been very patient and even defended his company to a degree on the net, but now I'm thinking I cannot support a company that not only doesn't deliver promptly, but neglects to communicate to its clients. Sad state of affairs.

Re: My heads update...
Well, I've been talking to Tony Mamo from AFR and Tom Izzo from Speed Inc. for the past 2 weeks and I have made my decsion to get the 205 Mongoose heads with the 66cc chamber. Should bring my static CR to 10.2:1, or thereabouts (so a slight increase over stock). I'm upgrading the lifters to Comps, but staying with the stock rockers. Will be using the GM steel shim gaskets with ARP head bolts. There will be no milling of the deck. Keeping all .75" of it.
It should make decent power now with the 224 XER cam, and if I want to add a small blower in the future (say 8 psi max) the set up will be strong enough to support things (and the 114 LSA cam will help not to bleed off boost). Its similar recipe both have used on several cars to date, though not in an automatic. They figure the CR will be no worry at all as long as I am not stupid on the tune, and run the ARP bolts and GM gaskets. Especially with access to 93-94 octane. The 205 heads will flow more than enough to support the boost, and the 225s are not necessary in the least (though would help) and would be overkill for my current set up unless I want to spin my engine real high.
Best yet, I should get the heads in about 10 days from ordering. Beats the 6 months I was going to wait. Now I just have to complete hte order..
