More machine work required

Going to be a little longer before I get the motor back. The machine shop (High Performance Motors) has put in some time and come up with some things. Apparantly the clearance on the crank to the main bearing is only one thou and it should be 2 - 3 thou. Doesn't sond like much right, but the crank has touched the main bearing and needs some work. Hopefully just a polish but if that does not work then it will need to be ground.

Next, the cylinders are glazed - washed rings and overheating probably.

Next, the brass valve sleeves (whatever they are called) need to be replaced. Don't know why, they are basically brand new. *shakes head*

Next, the deck is not true. That will need to be done and check the heads as well as a result.

Of course this is the consequance of having Rash do the work. He said that he would not deliver the motor back unless it is 100% perfect.

In addition I called to follow up on the blower pulley / bracket / hub people and they have not even opened my box after more then a week.

Rash came over to my dads shop the other day and told me everything you just listed. When you get your motor back this time I think your going to be pleasantly surprised. I know waiting sucks but you can't rush perfection The guys at High Performance are awesome and will do the job right.
How long did he say it would take until you get the engine back??

Good to hear your 'positive' comments Shawn. Rash was not able / willing to commit to when it comes back.

That being said, I have alot of time committed to other stuff this month so the number of free days AVAILABLE to reinstall the car over the next 4 weeks is VERY limited as it is. Nonetheless, I just want the thing back so that I'M in control of the delays.

I like Rash and he has been very generous with his time with me at my home helping out last spring. I'd also prefer to wait and have it perfect. I just wish I didn't have to wait THIS long.
