I just do not understand people who pay big money for a pet and then even more for an animal who has a serous problem. Being raised on a farm, if an animal had a problem, we had the solution, we fed them a piece of lead! It cured them every time.
Well, I look at it this way. If I can spend thousands of Dollars on modding my car, what kind of person would I be not to help out a living animal that is part of my life. I understand life is different on a farm where the animals are part of a business. But this isn't the case.

You are right about that. On a farm, it is a matter of dollar and cents. However we too had pets and when a pet went bad, as in approaching visitors from behind and sneakily nipping at them, we shot the dog. We had no time and money for retraining a dog with a bad demeanor. Likewise, if we ran over a dog with a farm implement or it got hit by a passing car, we annalized it in a matter of a day or two, and if it didn't look like it would heal by itself, we took care of it ourselves and bought a new dog.

A few years ago when we were living in a residential neighborhood, our pure bred collie developed a habit of going to the neighbor's yard and doing it's thing there. At least so we were informed. That same neighbor also took the dung and smeared it all over our dog's face.

Our remedy.......??? Simple, we sold the dog. My relationship with my neighbors is more crucial than my relationship to any animal, no matter how stupid the neighbor is.

BTW, I happen to have spent thousands on hot rodding my truck, and I think that is dumb as well. My former neighbors also hated my noisy truck, so we moved.
