Good clip Todd. The vette was faster in the staights but the Lotus was all over it in the corners and under braking. Just goes to show you that vettes don't always handle better!
BTW- you sure that vette was stock

The Lotus Elise is one of the best braking and handling cars in the world. In a tighter racetrack it would kill the Vette.
It was nice to see the american muscle pull away out of site at the end

Your comparing apples and ornages. The Lotus Elise Motorsport is a a spec race car built by Lotus for a spec race serie that took place in UK and Japan. This car has been imported in the US by Lotus USA. This is a very rare model. 64 have been built by Lotus. 7 have been imported in the US. 200hp and 1700 lbs. Half the weight as a vette at twice the cost

All I have to say is............. HAHAHHAHAA STUPID IMPORTS!!!!!!!! That goes to show that American cars outhandle stupid imports & have more power & don't sound like A$$ inside & outside, I thought the thing was going to fall apart on those turns, all that clunking it was making HAHAHA, & in the end? STILL CAN'T TAKE A STOCK STREET VETTE!!!! Muahaaaa
I LOVE VETTES! I'm so glad for some people

This is what I've heard.. Can't verify, but makes sense.
The race Elise was piloted by a member of some German band.. heh.
The Corvette had some healthy HP mods and other mods done to it.. Who knows how noisy it was inside too..
Watch out for the new US Spec Elise, street ver coming out 2004, although only 3000 will be made for the US, so chances of seeing one is pretty small. Has a Toyota 1.8L and 6 speed.. about 190 hp at about 1900 lbs.. It'll dive into the turns much faster than a Z06 since it weighs 1000 lbs less, but the Z06 then slingshots out of the turns with more accel than the Elise, making up the speed difference with pure HP and exit grip. Two very different cars with two different styles and feels..

from what I could tell the Elise didn't do that much better then the Vette in the turns, I would like to see an all out race suspension corvette go after an al out elise like we just saw.
What pisses me off is how Ricers think its OK to compare a FULL OUT RACE import against a stock or near stock American car, & in the end still loosing & still comming up with an excuse like "you have a V8". Well I'm sorry, but is that your way of saying I have a car thats 100 times better then yours ?
MUHAAA!

There's alot of variables involved.. Main thing, we really don't know how the drivers really compare... and how much risk they were willing to take..
And if the Vette was so much faster, then how did the Elise catch up to it in the first place?
And we really don't know how modified the Vette was.. I've read that the vette was putting out alot more than stock HP, like around the 500 fwhp mark.. but again, no confirmations if thats actually true..
Again, its more of an apples to oranges comparison.... shows how vastly different two cars can be, with their own advantages and disadvantages..
BTW, there's a dealership in Washington that's selling the Race version of the Elise for $54,000. Also, if you put a deposit down right now, you can get the 2004 Elise US Street ver for about $39,000.
