Looking to buy a Laptop

Any recommendations? I will be buying LS1edit so do I need a special port with the system? Im also thinking of buying a digicam to d/l video into....do I need anything special there too?

I just want to make sure this laptop will do everything I want it too.

Its like the old school kind with the two screws on each side that hold the cable to the pc . If you have autotap already , the cable used plugs into a "9 pin serial port " on your computer . Take that cable to the computer store and try stuffing it into stuff until you get a match . . . .

My laptops a HP and I love it ( the actual laptop ). I would buy another one in a minute . Very strong , never given me any problems that I havent err . . . caused myself ( got mad ) However Xp licks nutz . Turns out it was eating my files when it came out of hybernation ( and restarts the hard drive ) so we disabled that and it hasnt crashed since . The Hp tech said its a Xp glitch . Xp "looses" its system files on shutdown and restart , ( as well as when it comes out of hybernation ) . . . Im keeping my fingers crossed but I think hes got it figured out as he nailed the symptoms . **** Bill gates and Microcrap IMO and buy a mac er something !! It really pisses me off when they release software so full of ****ups and expect the consumers to test it for them . . . . Id like to kick that ***** in the goods .

Also Hp warranty is great . They shipped my laptop out air mail and replaced cd burner / air mailed it back really quick . I complained about the adsl port being sloppy ( I accidently bent the metal clip thing inside pretty good ) and they replaced that no questions asked . I sent it overnight to on there tab lol . With the desktop JD has now , the original came with a faulty modem and they sent a new one out next day too no questions asked and FAST . With my laptop if this doesnt solve the problem they will fix it . Thats pretty good for warranty IMO .

I'm also in the market for a laptop but the price is dropping dramatically so no hurry for me yet. Next step would be the LS1edit and autotap. Already have a nice digital-camcorder, those things are awesome except you can't take them to any concerts or sporting events. My question is do I need autotap if I get the LS1edit?

I wanted to update this and say my laptop is back in Ontario . It did NOT fix the problem and it crashed again two more times in three days . I sent it air mail overnight lol . . . . thank god for warranty

. . . . . . I realy thought we had it figured out this time aaarg !!

Do you think I will get a new one this time ?? The screen is black and not working and the hard drive is unresponsive to even simple commands . . . . hmmm. . . . not sure how that happened but its definatly no longer just a software issue that can be fixed via trial and error over the phone . . . . yup definatly a hardware issue this time no doubt
