junkers that have 01+ ls1's???

what are my chances, i wouldn't mind buy an LS6 intake from one for cheaper than brand new. i can't see it being a big problem being used.

Slim - 0

Problem is they wont be willing to start parting an ls1 motor , especially a 01 02 because chances are they have less than 40 k and they can score big $$$ . Try scoggin dickey . Those guys are cheap . If you wait a little bit you should be able to save a little cash as the new F A S T composite intake ( cant remember name ) is coming out soon . All the Ls6 intakes will hit the For sale boards . I know Im going after the new intake

The other problem is dealing with the EGR. The stock intake on a 01-02 car has no provision for it. So, you would have to delete your EGR. Which will throw a code and not get you past Aircare (damn them!).

why don't you either use LS1 edit to delete the EGR or get a PCM from a 2001 model.

I know that will work, but it would likely cost more and take more time to do than simply buying an SLP LS6 intake with the EGR fitting in place. By the time you get Edit and the intake, I think you'll be at $750 US, plus a laptop, etc... BUT, if you are getting Edit anywys, then I guess it will be ok.

i have a drill, i can make my own hole.
if i am correct all it doesn't have is the hole and the bolt hole, so all i would have to do drill a hole the same size as the one i have now and then use my dads tap&die set. im sure it would work

Perhaps, but I haven't heard anyone being successful with that approach because it is so tough to get a good seal with the EGR pipe if the hole isn't perfect. Then it leaks and throws the code.

But don't let me stop you! I'll even help if you need an extra set of hands. Is your friend Joe helping? I think that's his name...

na, he's not helping. i would just do it in my garage in like 5 mins. being an electrician and having lots of my dads mechanics tools, i have lots of tools at hand. i can't see it taking long at all. make some measuements, mark it up, stick it in the vice and start making the hole.

its either that or i wait for the new one comming out, which is probably a better idea anyways.

You can shave 3 minutes if you skip marking and drill by instict !! Trust me

The install is a bit of a bitch. There are some nasty connections at the back. Takes two guys, IMO.

mis-shift. 3rd to 2nd. being dumb and not knowing anything or reading anything i put all stock stuff back in. poor me.

8 new intake valves, 16 new pushrods, 16 new springs. was going to do exhaust valves as well but they sent me 4.... so i did non. then after that new head bolts and most other bolts and gaskets. all added up to about a grand. rip off. i wish i would knew more so i could put in some nice titanium retainers and better springs and all that other fun stuff. probably could have gotten it cheaper too off the internet. all done in 2 weeks of spare time after work and school in my garage.
