Cool It's Alive!!!

Finally, my ZZ430 clone runs! I've only had it run for half a minute because I don't want to **** my neighbors off, and open headers in a poorly ventilated garage and a very rich exhaust makes it impossible to stay in the car for long

Saturday I'll push it out of the garage and spend 25 mins or so on the break-in

---

So, now that it's running, what should I do to get it roughly tuned for the break-in?

Yeah man, congratts, roll her out and start on those first few oil changes. Then hit up the synthetic, motor like that diserves nothing less.

Glad to hear it man. What kind of carb or EFI you using? Also if your cooling system isnt as good as it could be set up a fan or two to blow into your rad when you break in the cam.

DON"T LET HER IDLE, keep RPM high, nothing like starving the lifters & rings of oil make sure you're not running too rich either.

Edelbrock 750 Carb.
MSD distributor, wires and ignition.
Headman Headers (couldn't afford Hookers )

With the exception of a starter, pretty much everything else was on the engine when I bought it (including the distributor )

If the carb settings are still setup for the last V8 just leave them as-is for the cam break-in. At 2200-3000rpm you will be fine. Then after that start tuning it. I dont have much experience with the edelbrocks so not much help there.
Hope all goes very well

The carb is brand new out of the box. The exhaust was so rich I couldn't take more than half a minute of it running

Cruising this weekend will be out of the question I don't have a complete exhaust system. As much as I like the sound, I'm sure most others don't.

Can you still run your old headers on it, or did you have to buy new ones?

I needed new headers. The old ones were only 1 5/8", my new ones are 1 3/4"
