I f*cking hate ICBC!
So this is the situation;
On halloween last year we were all hanging around with some guys from High School, and I pull in front of this one Chinese guy I went to school with. I pull my dad's Van in nose first, and my passenger says "Hey watch out!" Bam, I hit him. My passenger shouted watch out because as I'm pulling in the guy behind me moves forward! Now, I apoligized right away cause I thought it was my fault until my buddy told me he saw the whole thing and it's BS. I told ICBC that my friend saw the whole thing and they said "No too bad your friend can't testify for you."
Now I'm probably going to be stuck in an accident that's not entirely my fault, fixing some bullsh!t. Great, I ****ing hate those crooks, and I hate dealing with them every time. F*ck ICBC and everybody affiliated with those little c*ck suckers.

You know Jimbo, if you gave up driving, instead of paying ICBC $4100/year, you could make $904/year (minimum) by putting that into an RRSP. Probably get the $75 sales tax credit too.
Mooch off your friends, take the skytrain, the bus, show some leg and hitchhike.

Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
Dude its called having a brain, going up to ICBC and saying "My friend saw it happen" and expecting them to use that? Now thats not too smart, any idiot could have told you they wouldn't take it, and neither would I. Now I don't get it, you'r pulling in nose first and the guy behind you hit you? And you thought that was your fault? Were you back up to have hit him? Because the person that is backing up is always at fault case closed.
Though I feel for you bro.

For the amount of money your paying for insurance now man, I would highly recommend you buy a bus pass. Your paying an insane amount now, think about it.
This has to hurt. Good luck.

Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
I was pulling in nose first, gave it generous amounts of room to clear the guy behind me, and then he MOVED forward while i was turning in, into my blind spot then bam. It's like you changing lanes, and halfway through your lane change the guy behind you in the new lane speeds up while you're changing lanes and you clip him.
Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
if he hit you from behind why didnt you lie and say you were still and got hit from behind, then he would have to prove that you were moving backwards?
for 4100 a year i would park the car and save the dough, if you must drive something drive a early 80s k car or something with just the bare minimum coverage.

Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
The side of the van was hit 3 and a 1/2 feet from the front, maybe? It's pretty much me making a right turn and a car that was parked coming to life as I was turning and moving forward so I had no room to clear him, but of course I couldn't SEE it happening cause I was already turning in.

I'm not quite sure why ICBC is at fault here, but I understand your frustration at having your rates going up again due to this mishap.
Public transit is looking like a good option.
Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
Isn't it usually that the car that hits from behind is 99% of the time at fault? So, if you're changing lanes, and some guy comes up behind you and clips you hard, isn't he at fault? Based on your example.
Brutal luck. Icbc doesn't often accept eye witness testimony from friends as they are assumed biased. Naturally with all the faking that used ot go on, I don't blame them. You have to deny any friendship or association.
What was it your friend saw that made you feel it wasn't your fault? Did you back into him, or did he drive forward and ram you?

Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
When I was pulling into my parking spot, my friend told me he looked in the mirror and saw the guy parked behind me moving up into my area of the parking spot, the part where my van was going to take up. So my nose was in, and the back end was following the nose into the parking spot, and as the back end's going in. So if you're pulling into your parking spot nose first, and the guy behind you who is parked decides to move up while you're parking.
I'm ranting @ ICBC because the dude on the phone mumbled, bitched, and was utterly useless. If it's 50/50 I'd be fine with the deciscion.

Re: I f*cking hate ICBC!
Hey jimbo, if your worrying about it affecting your insurance i wouldnt worry. I got in a lil fender bender in my moms van doin something similar. It didnt affect my insurance at all, and only made her's go up 5 bucks a month for the year (she apparently HAD a perfect record though). I think they give you one free one if your driving someone else's car. Just my personal experience.
