regester(sp?) for a licence pay the fee. Buy ur hand gun / rifle what have you, wait for the paper work to clear. Also by law you must have trigger locks and depending on what cal. it is, a safe or gun locker. I think thats it.

happy shooting

This is why you always pay your bills at CHP

You need your F.A.C. certificate plus an extra one for carying hidden guns , any of the fun stuff .

Does it matter on the use for the gun?
I wonder how hard it would be to convince them that your M16 would be used for hunting

Some of you guys are really out to lunch this is not the USA . First off you need to get a firearms license. This is usually done by talking a firearms course and going through safety training and procedures for proper handling of firearms. This also includes writing a test and doing a practical. If you want to you can challenge the test right away with out taking the course if you want, but it is not recommended . There is also two main categories of firearms licenses, non-restricted, and restricted. The non-restricted license covers long guns, i.e. rifles and shotguns meaning any firearm with a barrel over 18.5 inches in length and any other firearm that is non-restricted. The restricted license covers handguns and guns with barrels under 18.5 inches in length. Now if you have your restricted license and want to own a handgun you have to apply for a carrying permit for it. THIS ONLY COVERS YOU TO TRANSPORT THE HANDGUN FROM YOUR HOME TO A GUN RANGE. At all times when transporting the firearm it mush be locked up, i.e. in a locked case, or have a trigger lock. You must also have a gun safe at home to store the firearm in when it is not being used. Also an M16 type of firearm would be restricted and therefore only be able to be used at a gun range.

Don't forget to make sure you don't have a criminal record, they will decline you immediately. Just wanted to let all you bad boys know your first step is to get a pardon. The usual wait after a conviction is six years.
