How to Launch?

What have you had the most luck with when wanting to get a good launch out of your car?
I'm talking mostly stock cars............some of you with 400+rwhp would likely be doing things a bit differently...........but I wouldn't mind hearing anyhow.

My trick with the A4 is to load the tranny up at the line about 1800rpm and well when it hits green step into it, not floor it right away but get into it really fast. Equates to great traction and well your at full throttle soon enough However at the track when using the bottle, I do the same trick as far as stalling it up but when it hits green the pedal is to the ground Feels great when the bottle hits and the dr's hook-up

Last time I drove one i just brought it up to 4k and did a quick release while pushing into the throttle. got me a 1.92 60ft.

this was on a stock rear end so i was holding back

I usually hit the gas on the last yellow...if you wait for the green to hit it, its too late IMO .

Yeah I do the same thing but didn't want to explain all of that but yeah for the record best way IMO is to watch the last yellow and well when you see it go because of the time it takes to react to the yellow, the light is already green

For my car, I just held the brake, brought the rpms up to 2000 and then quickly rolled onto the gas pedal. That usually resulted in 2.0x 60' times on BFG radial T/A's

In case you're curious...

I usually hold throttle at 3000-3500, then on the yellow dump the clutch, wait for the tires to do 2-3 rotations, then mash the gas and if it's done right... when the tires catch the power hits the wheel(s) (hahahahah) and you go

well for me, i bolt on the slicks, stall it up to 3000rpm, with 3/4 throttle on the brake hard, then when its going through the yellow i hit that peddle into the waterpump! and pull my 1.80 60' on my under geared 3.42's and slow 375 bhp we will see if i can get some 1.5-6's this year with my new goddies

- 25psi in hot sticky Nittos
- 3000rpm while staged
- release clutch near end of the second yellow
- count to 1
- nail the gas

It was consistent as hell... pulled a perfect light on my 11th run EVER this way. Few problems though:

- while RT was consistent, 60' times were 2.0xx+ due to massive wheel spin (and this is a stock LT1).
- "releasing" (or popping) the clutch above 3 grand with a Street Twin clutch shatteres posi's... ask me how I know (notice the PLURAL "s" on posi's)

This year's plan is to lauch lower (~2000rpms) and "roll out" of the line. I'll try not to pop the clutch (and shock the drivetrain) as I lean into the gas (instead of stabbing it). I need to save this 10-bolt until I can get a 12-bolt instead... plus I need to address this wheel spin problem anyway.

Hopefully I'll be pulling 1.9xx 60' times and keep the RT's below 0.599 without red-lighting.
