Exclamation Here's your chance to help a ford guy

Hey all,

Well as I posted earlier, I bought a ford because nobody wanted to give up the f-body I wanted.

This is the only board I know of with car guys from vancouver, so I keep coming back here even though I am a traitor :P.

Ok, I bought this mustang and the paint is full of "orange peel". Ford is willing to give the car a new paint job under warrenty, but I have to tell them the place I want it done.

Now, who do you guys suggest???

I need a shop I can trust and, if need be, keep going back to until they get it right.

Thanks in advance.

John

Dont bother , they will find a way to screw everything up. . . keep the factory paint. If its that bad Id get it wetsanded and polished complete at a really good detail or rod shop. I think Shawn knows some places you can get this done as hes doing his WS.6 . .. . maybe he will chime in.

What color is it ??

Spotlight Collision, ask for Mike 604-322-9494

They painted my car and I'm very happy with their work. They work on a lot of the high end stuff. Viper's / Ferarri's / Porche's etc... those are just a few that I've seen in there.

Yup , lost once and won twice without the bottle, cam or headers. We never got to run a full quarter any of the times though. I lost from a dig and won both from a roll.

Is this a challenge

How bad is the orange peel? I'm curious because darn near every car has it. Mine sure does. But the paint still looks good. I could never imagine convincing a dealer that a new car needs a paint job just becuz of orange peel.

As Twitch says, makes sense to live with it becuz virtually every shop that I have seen a dealer work with butchers the work. I had to have my front fascia repainted because it was too faint (ie not enough paint). With the original paint on the front fascia I drove 3 years w/o a single rock chip... the factory coat was that good. Within 3 months of the new dealer paint job, I had close to 20 rockchips due to the crappy job. And I let the paint sit for a month w/o driving the car to let it cure.

If I had known, I would have never gone back to the dealer for it becuz they just made it worse... even if it was 'free'. Trouble was I was no expert on paint so just "assumed" they do as good a job as the original factory. Even when I took it back 3 times. Fat chance. It got worse each time they tried to repair it. They suck. Can you tell I'm bitter?

I would recommend total car care in langley. They are on 56th near hwy 10. Only reason I recommend them is because a guy I know who is a detailing maniac said they are the only guys that would touch his car other than him. I do know they stand by their work from other sources though.

I am leaning towards getting a highspeed polish. The complete paint job is now out. The dealer is going to take it to a guy tomorrow to look at it, NOT DO ANYTHING. We have to find out if this guy thinks he can fix it.

Tw!tch, I can race yah, but I will lose, this time. But if you don't mind a full stock 04, we can see where things stand.

I need to wait for this thing to get broken in before I can change a few parts. To hell with the warrenty.

Cool

Damn, that's a whole tank of gas :P

I am out by SFU.

At least the roads are open there. I haven't been able to get past 215km/h even on the #1. Roads are just crazy busy. All I think I need is a mile to hit the fuel shutoff.
