Slap a coil in it. Had one that acted the same way i am sure someone locally has one kicking around you can slap in to try

could it be a bad iac? maybe thats why it dies at a light.

 

If its having a problem starting even with a good battery & your alternator charges well then its obviously your opti nothing else, the opti is firing the wrong cylinders while starting causing the car to backfire, start real hard, have a rough idle etc...
