AFR heads are on the way

My AFRs are apparently on route to me. Look forward to getting them, for as many of you know I had been waiting a LONG time for my previous set of ported heads that I had ordered in July and eventually cancelled (not the AFRs). I'm very happy I switched to AFR. Be even happier once I install them. Time to start working on my new edit file...

woo hoo!

Re: Heads are on the way

Those AFR heads are making some killar #s. I would like to be there to watch or help with the install if you'd like. What was the name the place that you ordered from before? Was it Patriot? They have a good deal on heads right now and I was starting to price some out.

Re: Heads are on the way

Mike, Patriot makes their own LS6 style head (made from LQ9 heads I think, and a little wled build up) and port stock castings. They certainly have some of the lowest prices. But they had some quality control issues at first where the odd user had problems. I'm sure with any heads great results can be had though. I definitely want Cory to look at the heads before they go on, and you're more than welcome to come by. Any excuse to talk cars and have a beer.

Amit, if I could go bigger than the 224 I would. I would love the 224/228 that AFR recommends (good blower cam too), but that would be on the ragged edge for emissions. I wish we could class our cars for off-road use.

I'll bring the beer

If a guy had an older car to put a LS1 in I bet he could run 233/239 cam as emissions would be less of a risk.

Right on Chriss. You should have a good combo there that will put you in the 11s for sure. Makes me want to at least get a cam this year but Im holding out for new rims and tires.

I may have to go bigger then, as wouldn't want you to have the upper hand. A 240+ looks awefully tempting lol.

Re: Heads are on the way

Chriss, your car will fly, why are you jelous of anyone that has a big cam work for them? I'm jelous of anyone with more power on a stock shortblock, and I doubt anyone here will touch my numbers with a stock LT1, people are moving to LS1s and I am sure with your heads and a decent cam you will hit my numbers with an AUTO But I won't be jelous cuz you have a nicer engine being the LS1.

However, if you are jelous of cam sizes, how about mine ?

242/250 on a 109 LSA?
stock 350 block reving to 7k RPM all the time.

Yes, thats what I was running this whole time, so if you wondered why I got 405RWHP with crappy tunning 11.9:1 A/F before blowing a header gasket, this is why, my next dyno I'm hoping for 420 there abouts, but then again look at my cam, yes its extremely hard to make a tune for it and drive it every day to work and through rushhour, and still pull from 1500rpm in 6th gear without any studdering or shaking
