Header & Autometer Guages

Hey there everyone, I just picked up my new headers
and triple guage pod & guages today. Looking for some
input on some very good & reasonably priced installers
for both parts. Preferably someone who has exp. on
4th gen. cars. Thanx in advance.
Cheers,
Steven...

Mike Servio (LT1Z28 & our moderator) will be the best around...I've had good experiences with him and his prices are pretty good too.

Bunker (Matt) is great too, but I'm not sure if he is still doing much work on cars because of his school schedule.

Those guys are by far the best choice.

BTW: I REALLY hope you didn't get the dual cat 96-97 Edlebrocks like I did. Its really a waste of $700! Try to return them and get a set of MAC's...TRUST me!

Headers

Yeah I did get the dual cat edelbrock headers, why didn't
you like them Andy? did they not fit good or no difference
in hp?. How much to put in a set of headers & how long
would it take approx. sideways_into_3rd?

I live in walnut grove Ollie, and yeah we did meet a
couple times. Once off 200th street then @ MRP. I had
my black camaro w/ euro clear corners and dark tinted
windows. I sold it in Nov. & picked up my 97 SS (c108).
It's in the garage for the winter.
Cheers...

Payam....I consider you more of a tuner You are still good though

They are horrible because.....
1. Poor design that focuses on being "smog" legal, rather than the performance. The primaries look smaller than 1 5/8's and look like they would perform BARELY better than the stock manifolds...Payam and Matt will vouch for this design flaw because they saw mine.
2. HUGE cost compared to the MAC's and it doesn't even come with a larger Y-pipe...another extra cost if you want to feel any difference. Probably the lowest HP increase of any header around. (the 93-95 headers are different btw)
3. Poor plug access due to that stupid heat shield.
4. Mine had VERY poor weld quality...I don;t know about yours though
5. I had dreams of running some good numbers (11's at least) so I just went with the "big dog" headers for LT1s....Hooker LT's

I don't mean to put your parts down, I just want to let you know about my experience before you finalize a huge investment. I just bought what Mopac had and for $900 (painted version,) I thought I should get a better part.

doing it yourself is usually the best price. its the only way to learn.

was that your old car that was always at safeway in langley, if it was that was a pretty sweet car. saw it around a few times.

Thanks for the heads up Andy, Yeah the welds around
the port holes could have been done better & I also
noticed the weld spatter wasn't cleaned very good.
I got mine from best buy performance, I think I payed
$650ish. Mopac is too expensive for most stuff. I will
definately get more info on these headers & also price
out a set of Mac headers before I install. BTW I'm runing 3" stainless pipes front 2 back currently.

Yeah it might have been Streamline Z28, either there or @
save on foods. Thanks for the compliment.I might try the install myself but I don't have a place to do it nor the tools & time
is always a factor.

Hey!!! I live in Walnut Grove too!! And what is more of a Coincidence, I have a 96 SS.

On a side note, Nobody really has grounds to talk bad about the edelbrock headers. I don't think anybody has tested them vs. others?? In GM High Tech performance magazine they had a LT1 bolton shootout and the fastest car had Edelbrock headers.

Also, where did you get your 17x11 SS wheels. I'm thinking about getting those as well..... Where did you say you lived again??

the 93-95 headers are MUCH better design than the 96-76 ones. Most likely, the GM High tech car had the older versions

I have the 94 edlebrock chrome headers... big mistake never get chrome headers Get coated... Which by the way is what I asked for but being the uneducated moron that I was back then I didn't think it would make that much of a difference. oohh shiny.. bling bling.!! I have no complaints about thier performance .. paid $600 for them at Lordco. Took me about 4-6 hours to install considering I've never installed anything or worked on cars before to any "major" extent.

edit: oh yeah, Headers are easy enough to install, even Payam can do them! J/k All of these guys know thier stuff
