whats in the motor? new cam? might need a custom chip made up if you got aftermarket cam in it etc. try and contact bunker, he can write you a tune or trouble shoot your problem, then get back to me i know a guy who can burn you a custom chip, all you have to pay for is the cost of chip and shipping. more info needed!

Thanks for that info.

We have been trying to figure this out all day and it seems to us that the opti is not working right, I just bought it through autozone and I called them up and another one is on it's way, will have it by tuesday.

We got 2 out of 4 volt signals from the opti spark.
We where getting almost 0 vacum
We found TDC and market the crank, it does not seem like the time is flexing at all like it should
It barely holds 500rpm idle
The scanner is reading all signals and doing all it should so we think it's the opti rather than the computer
I think a chip would help me right now but I will need one when the car is running properly and I can start tuning it.

Here is the engine combo:

383CID 10.7 compression 1.6 rr's schneider hydraulic cam 228 int 228 exh @.50 lift 112 lobe 552 int lift 552 exh lift w/1.6 rr's adj fuel press regulator........

Thanks, Jon.

your problem is the cam, the 93 computers dont go well with anything other then stock cams, im sure the opti has a role in it as well, but the car wont run to well with out a custom chip. dont bother with hypertech or jet chips they dont do jack. you need a custom one made up. you can contact bunker to write you a tune then i can send it off to the guy i know or you can get a ed wright tuen at fastchips.com or a pcmforless tune. other then that you cant really get much done with our computers.

Ok, but I think it should still run properly with the stock chip!?!

I have seen bunch of lt1 cars with stock computers doing just fine, and with larger cams than the one I have!!

How does he write the tune?

I am getting 2 out of 4 signals through the opti spark to the computer.

I'm getting ditributor reference low signal
I'm getting Ignition feed

I'm not getting High resolution
I'm not getting Low resolution

I think this is the biggest problem I'm facing right now and hopefully straighten out alot of this mess, my head has just been puffing black smoke all day from reading and thinking too much

Thanks,Jon.

our 93 computers dont make self adjustments to cams like the 94+ ones do, we dont have a maf so the computer doesnt know the amount of air coming in to make adjustments. that is why youll need a custom chip. the 228/228 552/552 is to big for the stock chip as far as i know. either way you need to get your opti issues sorted out first. check your opti harness, may be loose. bunker will write a tune in tunercat then i will get it burned from a board member for the cost of the chip, which is like 10-15 bucks.

Ok cool .

What is Bunker's name and can I find him here on the webpage?

It does make sence what you are saying though and thanks for the help.

Have you heard of a problem like this before on a 93 car?

Oh can I plug those chips directly into the ECM??

Thanks, Jon.

you can pm bunker or e mail him at bunker@telus.net the chip should be a simple plug and play. all speed density cars need custom programming with cams as big as yours. most people get a chip made up while the cam is going in or whatever. or some just get dfi like i did.

If bunker isn't doing them then go to Pcmforless.com Alvin will hood you up are madz28.com a sponser here does them as well. I have one for a bigger cam that would probably get it running better but its for an A4.....

i tried a a4 chip once, il warn you the rpm gauge does through the roof, even though your not flooring it and the speedo gauge goes all the way over even though you may only be doing 30mph, so your odometer goes up like crazy. it might run smooth but i wouldnt be driving around on it unless you get it changed for a m6
