Going to Price George to work......

:blah:

I worked for the telephone company in the past.......for about 2 1/2 years.

I got laid off along with 42 other electricians due to downsizing.
I worked for School District #33 (Chilliwack) in between then and now, until I got laid off there to along with 3 other electricians also due to cutbacks.

Now Tel want me back - and wants me to go to PG.......

I've said yes, out of neccecity.
It's -9 there today, and down to -19 at night.

Has anybody ever spent any time up there?

I hope it's bearable because I'll already be suffering not being able to see my girls everyday.

Any insight?

Thanks for the nice words.

My girls are daughters - and they are not available - Jim! (inside joke)
They are 6 and 2, and they are good girls. I'll miss them very much.

My Camaro is in storage just like every other winter - it only gets insured for summer, so no danger there.

I'm hoping to stay mostly indoors up north.

i know of someone off this board up there, not too many ricers up there and they have a race track as well. well that wont apply till the summer unless your still up there. works work, you gotta go where the money is, atleast you dont have to go way up north. good luck, wont be that bad, and hopefully winter will fly right by.

Youre gonna learn to ride a snowmobile Its about the only thing to do up there in winter. I may end up going there. I am likely too late for this season though. I do have some contacts up there so if you get screwed up let me know. If you ever start feeling that PG sucks *** (sorry to say, it does) Just remember it is the busiest place up there. In otherwords you could in a small town up there. I would not want to live in PG forever, but I could handle winters if it got me what I needed.
Cheers

Sorry to hear that you have to move Steve.

However, with all the construction happening in the lower mainland and with the Olympics, surely you will ber able to get a job down here again.

I'm sorry you have to go too but you have to go where the work is. Hopefully you can transfer back soon, I doubt you'll wanna stay there for any length of time. At least you can keep in touch on this board.

I've been to PG in the summer...its pretty nice with all the things you can do out doors. They even have a nice drag strip:P I've never been in the winter though....:S

Thats really cool that you are willing to move for the family...I'm sure they will appreciate it!

It's cold up here.
There's nothing to do.
Everyone smokes.

Can't wait to go home.

I'd hate to own a Camaro and live up here.

I work once in a while in PG. The company I work for has a maintenance base there. I have seen a few fbodies in the spring but it is mostly truck country. I have heard that the track is used every Friday in the summer. Never made it myself. Took my SS up there once but never again the roads are not the best for suspension etc.
Hope the job thing works out for ya. Good place to spend a few years and then get out of Dodge.
