Forced To Get A Cobra

Well it seems that there is a lack of Trans ams around with the LS1 in them. So I tried for about a year to get one with no luck. Last saturday I gave into the dark side and bought a 2004 cobra.

I would have to say that the cobra does have some nice power if I can ever get it to hook up!!!!!!

Well maybe I will see some of you guys around vancouver.

John

I was "forced" to get a Camaro. lol, kinda.. Corvettes have been my dream car since I was like 9. Would have been nice to have my first real car my dream car.. I researched 80's Corvettes but found out they were very underpowered and had a crappy transmission, so I moved on to looking at early 90s with the L98. I was looking at the 1991 and up body style, with my limit on money around $10k. Found a few 6-speeds with pretty low miles, but everyone wanted too much. After I gave up on the Corvettes, I still wanted muscle, or some nice import. Don't hate me, but I like some of them, but I love muscle. So I was looking around for Camaros, Trans Ams, 3000GT VR4s, 300ZX TT, M3s, or a MkIV Supra. Okay, the Supras are really hard to find and are way overpriced. Only found a few M3s, overpriced again. 3000GT VR4s couldn't be found for a good price without 150k+ miles, and same for the Z. So it was down to the F-bodies, but some kid at my school just got a Trans Am WS6 that his parents bought him, ****. So it was Camaro for me.. Only took a few months to find one for what I think was a pretty good deal, low miles, 6-speed, very good condition all around. I'm pretty glad I got this car instead of the others though, especially the Corvettes, which are just too expensive, and I will have to wait until I grow up a little for that.

I own a Camaro because I can't afford the Corvette that I want.

This is likely a common thing among Fbody owners.

No one put a gun to your head forcing you to buy a cobra. I'm sure if you waited til the summer some sweet deals would have poped up. Perhaps after a few months with the cobra you'd wish someone does put a gun to your head... j/k

I didn't want a drop top LS1, I wanted one with T-tops and in black or silver. In the end I was way to picky for what was out there.

Also, I was leaning more and more to a new car since I didn't want to deal with other peoples abuse.

Also, there are still some people asking for more for a F-body than I paided for the cobra.

The final kicker was that the stock cobra is a bit faster than the last stock F-bodies, given the same driver. And the cobra seems to take mods fairly well.

It would have been nice if GM was still producing a pony car, then at least I would have had a choice.

So far I do enjoy the car, but I do know I am going to have to mod it a bit..........but I don't want to ruin my warranty
The way it is right now, most of you can take it on the track
