Expo '86
Has it really been 20 years?

Ahhh the old'n days back when they had the Soviet pavilion. I went to Expo twice myself. I remember the endless walking and the fantastic tasting fudge that I ate on the monorail as I was leaving. I also argued with my parents about the Scream Machine vs the PNE rollar coaster. Does anybody remember the Lean Machine? It was a 3 tired motorcycle with a dome shaped roof. It was supposed to be available in the year 2000 (so far and distant) And they had a "brand new" Corvette Convertible there. There hadn't been a vert Vette for quite some time. (The seats in it were completely worn out from thousands of people getting in and out of it all day long)
They also changed the license plates in BC from the nice dark blue we had to the Expo white plates that we're still using to this day.
What were your memories from Expo?

Re: Expo '86
I remember all of the concrete statues (old mustang convertible), Expo Ernie, the giant gold coin (maybe in the China exhibit?) and yes that yellow corvette convertible. I am sure there was more, but I was only seven at the time.

I was really little when I was taken to expo 86... I only remember some scary *** "hand" thing that kids could play in. Scared the crap out of me... It was like a square tube thing that had these plastic hands all over the inside and my parents made me crawl through it
Re: Expo '86
I was eleven when Expo came.
I went three times, and I don't remember much - other than a lot of walking and looking at stuff that seemed unimportant to me at the time.
There was this bridge with a bunch of concreted cars and bikes.
One of those cars ended up in Chilliwack for the longest time - on the corner of Vedder and Keith Wilson. Don't know why.
The Expo benches that were not much but a slab of concrete, a metal sitting area with "86" stamped in the concrete, were sold at the auction - all sorts of places ended up with them.
The Trans Canada Waterslides in Bridal Falls bought a dozen or so - and they are still there.
