Elections

Well I love it, Conservatives gave the Lying Liberals what they deserved, although I didn't want the conservatives to win (that would suck) I wanted them to come close & they did making the Liberals get only a minority government together MUHAAAA. The NDP more then doubled their votes from other elections & that’s because they deserved it, every comment made by the NDP is being brought up on TV on how the liberals break promises & Harper is just plain scary. The NDP won in Toronto & I believe in Vancouver as well but not in BC, real sad that Conservatives won here in BC, it figures, bunch of Rich people voting for the conservatives cuz they promised to cut taxes for those making over 35,000$ a year.

Either way, I voted NDP & I'll vote for them when it comes time for the provincial elections.

Well I always wondered who actually voted NDP.

I can now say that I actually KNOW someone who voted for the NDP.

You just better hope that you never actually make any significant money Matt. I'm not joking, I'm completly serious. Socialism is completely willing to spend the future of the young for the lower class of the present.

I'm happy that the Liberals are kept to a minority but disappointed that Ontario and specifically Toronto is so willing to asspet the corruption of the liberals

:shakes head:

That's because the conservative party promised to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

North and West Vancouver is full of upper crust richie snobs hence why the CP won.

Looks like the Liberals will win again. At least they have the most experience at giving away our tax dollars. I can definately use a tax cut but I'd prefer that they get rid of the GST. We pay large tax on big ticket items (like our cars) only to see some lazy welfare bums get GST rebate cheques four times a year. When they introduced the GST may years ago the government promised it was only going to be temporary, ya sure. My vote goes to the marihuana (sp?) party. Legalize BC bud and tax the hell out of it, this is modern day prohabition.

Screw the bullying americans with their not so perfect ideology, what about the free trade they promised? If the US quit trading with Canada it would hurt both countries so I don't believe their threats although it would hurt us more cause the US is our #1 trading partner. My cure for long term pain is BC's #1 cash crop. Legalize weed and we'll make Alberta oil look like water.

Yeah those rich bastards who make $36,000/year. That's almost as much as a base Z28 cost. It's not like he was cutting the 29%. Cutting the 22% to 16% seems reasonable to me. And a legislated debt repayment schedule sounds like a good idea too.

Then there is Layton. Who wants to pay down the debt or get a tax cut?.......Uhhh everybody.

I agree on the marijuana platform. BC would be the richest province in the country EASY!

Now we have Martin, Layton and Duceppe making a combo together. Great....3 Quebecers all running the country.

Did the CP win West Van? Last I saw it was a tight race between the Libs and the CP.

What about the other provinces ?? Do you think its worth it for them ? Who would police the tax collection and distribution etc ?? The cops already said theres no way they could afford to do it youd have to bring in a seperate department , it wont work. How do you control people who dont give a **** about breaking the law anyways ??

I went with Liberals, and the candidate in my area won (David Anderson). Anderson seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Conservatives scare me too... no way in hell I will vote for them. It kind of worries me that they won as many seats as they did! The other reason I voted Liberal is because I think they have balanced the budget the last couple of years. They have balanced it, haven't they? lol... I suck at politics! Anyways, a balanced budget is a huge thing for me.

u shouldnt knock 2 tier until u've tried it, being english, and living there most of my life, i've been through the 2 tier system, and it works better than the system here does...

here's the problem, IMMIGRANTS, honestly it is, who here wants immigrants coming into this country, oh, say 65+ yrs old, who dont work, dont give anything to the tax system, yet they get full medical benefits? they're leaching off the system here, and i, for one, want nothing to do with a healthcare system that does this... hence why i voted conservative (among 1000 other reasons)

face it, canadians choked, they went with the 'safe' bet, being the 'do nothing' liberals, the conservatives, although hurting many now, would have made canada a much more prosperous place... i'm just waiting 'til i can move south, and not get taxed to **** on my earnings (u gotta remember i'm just about to finish my degree, then post grad, so i'm not rich now, but i will be, and i really will be...)... i dont wanna sound mean, but i've had enough of paying for dumbarses to sit around and not work...

i'm sorry if this offends anyone, but i really thought canada had a chance to move forward... i dont think that'll ever happen...

also, politics is a nasty topic, so i hope all can keep cool heads on this topic..

On reflection I'm shocked at what I would consider the disappointing showing of the Conservatives. They LOST traction in BC. Amazing.

I HATED Cretin. Although I liked the fact that Martin balanced the budget, and I commend him for that. The Liberal scandals and their complete unwillingness to hold the crooks accountable is what really bugged me.

I found it histerical and disturbing that the NDP, and to a certain degree the Liberals, made it sound like tax cuts were a bad thing.

To our US friends they must be stunned. Yes that right, The NDP had negative advertising against the Conservatives suggesting with great distane that the Conservatives were going to cut taxes.

Just as an aside folks, I'm in FAVOUR of the GST, BUT income tax should be cut. I would prefer to pay tax on what I SPEND rather then what I make. That way I have some degree of discretion on my tax bill depending on if I choose to consume or to save. (ignoring the fact that I pretty much choose to consume LOL).

Have you noticed that the economic numbers coming out of BC are starting to turn up? Consumer confidance and spending is up significantly. Is it possable that the initiatives of the Provincial govt from 2 - 3 years ago and coming to fruition? We had 9 - 10 years (I cannot remember) of communist govt in BC and we went from the top to the bottom. Alberta has had a right wing govt for years and they are top of the world. Did you know that Alberta has NO PROVINCIAL DEBT. Can you imagine the level of flexability that govt. has without having to make debt payments. In Alberta they can now AFFORD social programs. The liberals here in BC have introduced legislation that fundamentally changes the way we are governed and CERTAINLY for the better. Fixed election dates, balanced budget and a citizens assembly to fundamentally discuss the merits of a completely different election process. Those ideas took courage as they change the status quo for the benefit of the people. I don't care what political stripe you are, you have to commend them for doing that.

There still remains about $550 Billion in Federal debt. Sorry folks but our parents spent our inheritance and then some, and we all have to pay the price. I just hope that the Liberals stand up to the NDP and do not allow us to slip back into deficits.
