Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
So as I'm turning the page on the calender to September, my dad walks in. Says "Oh, what are you going to do now that it's September?" I shrug and say work, as I am looking to get a job. He flips out and says "Oh a job wtf why don't you go to UBC?" Haha.
Number one:
Out of so many chicks in UBC do you think one could be hot?
Two:
I just barely graduated, UBC won't let me in yeah right
Three:
Then what the hell am I going to do about money?
Now, I figure I can work PT and go to school PT, and then I'd be ****ing happy. I don't know where though. My grades are bad.
I don't know what to do about it now, but I am determined to pull 'em up somehow. WHere can I go, to later tranfer to a University and get a good degree and yadda yadda. People say do what you want but I really like writing, and I don't know anything about where to go for that. Can anybody steer me in the right direction? Thanks

Re: Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
not so much admission, but availability of classes...
i dunno how they do it, but ubc registers for sep and jan courses in august, ask someone who goes to kwantlen... BUT u wont get favourable registration dates if u have bad grades, so u have to do something about them grades, what - i dont know, but something...
maybe go see an advisor in a month or so (it'll be really busy this month)

Re: Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
Before you go to school, figure out what you want to do, or at least have a field in mind. I think you are too late to get into anything this year anyway. The cheapest way to get into uni is by transfering from a college or tech school. Hell, I know of people that got a degree from UBC without graduating from highschool.
All in all, school is expensive, and sometimes it is better to take a year or two off before you go.
As for your questions.
1.) 30,000 students.........you see lots of hot girls
2.) Find a back door and use it.
3.) Parents or student loans........tuition must be around $6000 a year or so by now.

Re: Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
Dude my bro is up at Sigma Chi frat at UBC and I can assure you there are alot of hot chicks up there
I was prob in the same boat that you are in when I graded from HS but my grades were kinda bad(D to C+ range). I got a job when I graded and have been working since. If I could do it again I would have worked my *** off to get into a post secondary education and get a career now, not a job. I have payments and bills that would make it really hard to do school now(and I'm lazy
). My older bro and a few of my friends went to BCIT and they all said that it is a great school for all types of different educations. Maybe just work untill Jan and then try and get into sa school you want.

You can upgrade your highschool grades at college. I agree with what other people have said about choosing a field. No point in going to college/university for a few years, getting a large student loan and ending up not liking what you took.

Re: Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
you need at least 6 months lead time to get registered with the school you want, sign up for the classes you need, etc. and that assumes you have high enough grades (UBC would require roughly a 85% average in Provinvially examinable grade 12 courses). At this stage, you should go to a college like Cap or Langara and do a transfer after 2 years - but again, your grades better be top notch if you want to get into any of the 3 big universities nearby.
And if girls are a primary consideration in your school choice, I agree with the rest you will just be wasting your time and money going to university.

Re: Do you guys have any post secondary advice?
If your not sure what career path you want to take, you would be wasting your time and money. I know many people with 1-4 years of college/universtiy that are working a job that has nothing to do with there schooling. Post secondary is a huge decision and not something to be decided on at the last moment.
