I work at Riverview hospital. It's a mental institution. The speed limit on the grounds is 25 k's. Some psycho was driving on the grounds and ran a stop sign at about 70 k's. If I didn't see him out of the corner of my eye he would have t-boned me. I gave a quick toot of my horn and he stopped and got out of his beater car. Pretty big burly guy so I stayed in my hawk. He came up to me and told me to uck off. I took his plate and he went to the tuck shop where I was going. He got in line behind me and said, " you think your tough don't you." If I wasn't at work I would have let him have it right there but I was on duty on the grounds. The staff at the hall witnessed him threaten me again and they called security. He left before security got there but the staff there told me that he's in a half-way house from Forensic Psych Institude and he's a convicted killer. Great, attack me but stay away from my firehawk. Now I park where I can see my car incase he comes after me or the car.

*****? I'm not gonna lose my government job just to put some loonie in his place. On the street he's a dead man, at work we are trained to restrain ourselves and only restrain patients when attacked. His verbal assault on me didn't scare me, I was more concerned about him assaulting my car. If he did, I would have restrained him if you know what I mean. We have to try and understand that these are very sick people we are dealing with.

 

He's allowed to be driving around

 

Don't bother with these guys with their brave fingers on the keyboard! You did the right thing. Using your head at a time like that is better than losing your job or even your life. I'd drive your truck to work for a while if I were you.

 

Thanks Larry. If I drive my truck to work I'll be tempted to run over his car and flaten it like a pancake. jk Good advice but I can't afford to insure two vehicles. I think I'll ride my mountain bike if it stops raining. I start a 6 week holiday after next week so hopefully he'll forget about me and my car. Maintaining ones composure under pressure is great advice for anyone.

 

Once these guys hit the half way house they can do almost anything they want. When you go for your driver's license there's no test for your mental capacity. they're under minimal supervision. After this incident I'll bet he's gonna be locked back up where he belongs.

On the other hand, perhaps I misread your quote above and only ASSUMED you were reacting to Lucifer's post defensively. If so, sorry for putting any words in your mouth.

Btw, I'm at those grounds quite regularly myself (no, not checking in... ) - we do some work with the Sherriff's dept (Min of Att General) that is headquartered out of there. That property is really gorgeous in some areas.

But, I bet you see some wierd **** at times...
