I've done it. Filled the Corvette letters with flexible bumper repair stuff, sanded smooth, repainted, put Firehawk decals on. They are a PIA to put on LS1 powered F-bodies, particularly if you have a strut bar (like me). You have to do a lot of trimming to the passenger side one to get it to fit. You will also have to unwrap the fuel lines to get them to slide into the two openings on the drivers side cover. If you buy the Z06 covers, BTW, they are red with black Corvette letters, and have only one opening, as the LS6 only has the one fuel line.

This was a long tedious job, but they look nice once installed.

You can check my webshots link below. I may have some basic shots there... but no step by step stuff.

I've done it for myself and a few other cars and it's not too bad, if you have patience. The Z06 ones are really a pain, becuz as fiend points out there is one missing hole on the driver's side.

Most of the cutting is at the back, near the firewall. SOme minor stuff for the oil dipstick, throttle cables, etc...

Best spot is Preston's. I paid $52 per side ($104 total), but that was for the 1997 FRCs. The '97 covers are the only ones with two holes.

I think the Z06 covers are slightly more.

Yeah, as Chris says, Preston's is as good a place as any; any GM parts counter will have them (in a couple of days, they will have to order them in). The price between the z06 and regular ones is about the same, about $52 each. You can use the z06 ones too, if you want to cut the extra hole & slot for the 2nd fuel line. Every year of LS1 F-body is slightly different under the hood; particularly on the passenger side of the engine, I've found. Therefore, the best bet is to test fit the covers, make up a cardboard template, and start cutting that until you can make it fit. Then transfer the measurements from the cardboard to the cover, and make your cuts with a dremel tool. In my experience, about 1/2 the passenger side cover needs to go, so you can get it to snap into place.

And, one final note of advice, watch out for the plastic fasteners that secure the windshield cowl, they are razor sharp!!!
