cat converter

hey, today i just found out that my cat converter is dieing. i got quoted $478 installed (after tax)!!! the cat was $311 (before tax) and $100 for labor!!! i was like WTF?!?!?!
my cat has been rattling for over a month now and my fuel effeciency is starting to get worse. and the noise is really getting on my nerves.
so my question is, does anyone know of a place that can change my cat for much cheaper? i'm not prepared to pay that much to change the stupid cat
thanks in advance

thats REDICULOUS!!!

go on ebay, get a 3" carsound cat, they're like $40 US max, and made by magnaflow, i got one, and it flows better than stock, as its a high flow cat

install should be easy, go to midas, get them to do it, should be like $50 or so, its a simple cut, weld and go kinda thing...

You know, cats are a huge case of you get what you pay for.
A low rent cat may come back to bite you come Air Care time.

ianwells100, why did you replace your cat? How many k's are on your car?

i upgraded the size of my exhaust, and wanted a higher flowing, larger diameter cat, and i have heard only great things about these cats over on camarov6.com, and they are 50 state legal, and pass california emissions, supposedly
