Canadian buck
Just how high do any of you think our dollar is going to go? I heard on the radio it was 81.xx the other day which is much better then a year ago.
I might have to start buying next years mods much sooner than anticipated.

anyway, whilst the US still has a current account deficit bigger than about 4% GDP u can be sure the US dollar will be devaluing..
also, whilst gasoline/crude oil is still expensive, the CDN $$ will be appreciating even further...
no matter who wins the US election, the US $ will devalue.... it will hit $0.85 very soon, with many economists saying within 3 yrs, it may be at par.... which will be perfect for me buying my C5, when i'm done my CA

i'd say, put off buying ur mods as much as possible, the US $ is going one way, and one way only.... DOWN!
Re: Canadian buck
I was thinking of getting a couple mods this winter since the dollar has got a little better. Maybe I will wait a little longer myself. But I dont know how long I will be able to hold off this winter
. I think once I recover from Christmas I will have to do some parts shopping

Re: Canadian buck
I just bought a new Opti, O2's and a LT4 KM and was blown away bout how little extra i had to pay for USD
I also shipped it to pt roberts to save on brokerage fees. It was pretty nice not paying an arm and a leg for the conversion...

Re: Canadian buck
all u guys gotta do is wait a little while, do a daily check on the rates (or look at a site which graphs the rates for the last 6 months) and when the rates start to slow down in their change (ie. canadian $ appreciation), then would be the time to buy... u could wait 2 yrs for an even better deal, but we've all gotta be realistic here....
i'd agree with what was said above, after christmas might be a prime time to do it (also because the chinese economy may be starting to slow down from its 10% of GDP a year growth rate (which is NEEDED for stability), this would help lower the CDN $ appreciation....)

Re: Canadian buck
Good Answer Ian.
Of course the downside is that the $30k+ in parts I have on the car are all worth a lot less.
I bought the CTS V in Canada about a month ago. Even though I just KNEW I could get a better deal by waiting a little longer and buying it in the US, I could not be patient. Cost me a LOT of money as a result. Enough for a STS Turbo for sure.
*slap forehead*
I got to say, if we saw par value, I'd consider parting out the TA and putting in the extra dough to buy a modified GTS Viper.

Re: Canadian buck
Well the dollar closed over 82 today. Who knows where it will go at this rate. I think Ian will be right and it will be around 85 come Xmas time. Then Ill spend some cash.
Re: Canadian buck
I just spent about 3000 USD on mods, with another 1500 or so coming up
I love this shift in the dollar! but it makes me wish I waited an extra year to buy the vette hehe... (bought it with exchange rate of 75 cents this time last year)
