well im sure some of you have heard already and some of you havent heard. on friday night my cars drivetrain bit the dust. were talking nuked!. after the track we left and went to get a bite to eat, then we went to the chevron in mission just before the hwy. on the way there i ran it throught the gears (same as it aways has 800 times before 3 yrs straight) everything seemed fine. after we got the gas i did a little burnout outta the gas station cuz the dude pissed me off, still was all good. then we went onto the hwy cruised toward home at about 110kph 3400rpms. everything seemed fine. except for the usual. for the past 4 months or more, since i got the rearend put in my car had a cycling vibration over 3000rpm i thought it was just the gears in the rear, it was barely hearable and you couldnt really hear it, and it was the same ol so i thought nothing of it. well on the way home we were cruising along and the cycling vibration got to a more intense state, enough that i could feel it through the shifter slightly like a pulse vibration every other second. i at first thought it was some rough road cuz i gave it some gas then let off, did that several times and it seemed to go away, so i thought little of it(my car isnt that smooth to begin with) well there was some *** in a mustand that i had to pass cuz he was driving like an idiot, i was in the fast lane. so i gave her a little to about 100mph to blow this ***, well anyways the motor was singing along at like just under 5000rpm nice tone to it, the all of a sudden the tone changed to a deeper lower pitched sound, it did that for only a second then it started to miss 2 times in like 1/2 a second, then BOOM!! it went off like a C4 bomb! the whole car shook like a 5 point earthquake, i heard some winging noices intstantly like metal flying through the air realy fast type sounds, the whole car was just going nuts shaking violently! i heard the rods fall into the crank and the pistons, well when a motor is spinning that fast and **** lets loose oh man! the rods and pistons were wedging themselves in the crank BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG really fast, could feel the steel bending and shreading on inpact! . at the same instant all the oil and **** from the motor emediatley escaped the 12 gauge shotgun holes in the oil pan, i could hear shrapnel and **** flying everywhere. hit the red hot headers and exhaust! smoke billowed from the engine compartment, out of evey orface, couldnt see anything tons of smoke! all the oil caught fire on the headers! now all the oil spewed all out spraying everywhere all over the underside of the car, cuz the block split in half it was all mixed with oil and water. it went on all 4 tires! and even on the brake discs! now were doing 100mph! no bottom end cuz its all over the #1 and oil on the brakes and all 4 tires! geez. the car was engulfed in white billowy smoke, the **** pit filled with smoke, i coulnt see ****! not i gotta try and stop this thing, an fully loaded 4000lb tank on oil, no vision and the most violent mess ive ever felt in my life, hard enough to knock fillings out! i had to press on the brake as hard as i could just ot get the discs to stop, i threw it in neutral and it took me a 1000 feet to stop! turned it off right away and smoke was everywhere! so much carnage! there was oil everywhere! 3 foot wide trail of death all down the hwy, back of the car was covered in oil, windshield had spray on it everything. big pool of oil total carnage, there was chunks on the ground under the car. total loss. got it towed home at 2:30am mike (irocnparts) stopped when he passed by, to offer assistance but the tow truck was already on route. i really appreciate the offered help man, i wont forget that. so i got the car home and i started to do a preliminary dissasembly, took the vave covers off, spark plugs out, accesories, carb off etc. cyl no.1 and 5 on the left bank is fubar, bent pushrods, one fell into the motor and dissapeared! rocker arms ar all bent pointing in odd directions. on the right bank no. 2 and 6 let go, the cam is gone, all the valves are in the closed position, there was water in the oil totally, everything is smoked, theres 3 bullet holes in the pan. shrapnel all over the engne bay. theres little fragments in the intake manifold, total loss. 2 of the spark plugs are mashed. and apon dissasembly, i found that the tranny bellhousing on my th350 its split in half!!! totally mowed!. this weekend ill be pulling it and determining how extensive the damage really is. all i got left is headers, intake, springs, carb, valve covers, and timing cover, thats about it!!! ohh and a air cleaner pffft! so not fun! oh well i guess its a sign to go bigger and stronger next year, i just wish the ***** could have lasted 45 more kms!! then it would have been parked! p.s. i got a bunch of pics so if you want to see them MSN me and i can send them to you.........................ill keep updates on more as i find it out
