camaro back for 2007

the article is linked here:

http://www.vancouverfbody.com/forums...;threadid=2984

looks like its comming back but wont be a true f body, it will be based on a zeta platform which will be shared with a few other brands, buick, holden, pontiac...

there will be no firebird but pontiac will get a revamped GTO based on the line and something called a solstice. no firebird = i dont care, im disapointed that there will be no firebird transam.

Re: camaro back for 2007

they need to bring back the firechicken!!!!!

i will NOT buy a camaro, ever. the only reason im in a firebird and not in a mustang is because growing up all i watched was knight rider, always wanted a third gen and found myself in a 4th gen. hel even smokey and the bandit turned me onto 2nd gens. i think its a damn shame that the bird wont continue.

Re: camaro back for 2007

Wow.........you guys should check out the 5th gen forum more often.
This is quite old news now.......

Doesn't bother me a bit that the Firebird is gone for good.:blah:

I've had mixed feelings about a new Camaro ever since it became serious.
One piece of me hopes I like it.
Another hopes I am disgusted by it.........then I won't feel the need to spend 45-50K on one.

I've payed attention, searched and read a lot about it ever since the demise of our beloved in 02'........from the looks of concepts and general idea's - I do believe I will be broke in 07' after buying one.......

I'm thinking I will likely wait for the 08' to see if Chevy has made any grevious errors and or a new model finds it's way in the second year.
I'm hoping Z/28 becomes the performance model.
Fingers crossed.

There is absolutley no chance of that.

There has to be a base model.
Try and think of what the new Camaro will be competing with, they must offer the same kind of options that rivals do.
To have no V6 would lose out on a huge amount of market share.

We need the new one to be a hit..........not a flop.
Have to sell cars to do that.

This is a very bad example but GM did not do it with the new Pontiac GTO

Re: camaro back for 2007

the GTO is a brought over from australia, based on a holden monaro. and as far as i know its only a v8 there. so thats why they didnt bother putting in a v6 into it. and pontiac has enough v6s.

Re: camaro back for 2007

GM will make more money on the v6s then the v8s. If we want another v8 pony car (and have it last), the v6 must exist to make it viable.
