as for performance, if they can keep the curb weight to 3000lbs, they will need about 420 rwhp stock to take on a 3500lb viper srt-10 in current engine trim. the C5 2004 Z06 already manhandles the viper on the track, and the reduced weight of the new Z06 should widen the gap.
judging by the size of those rear meats and the rumors of 6.4L or 7.0L powerplants, I think the current viper will be beaten. However, I am sure Chrysler will fire back.

I prefer the vette as well. The old Z06 is .3 seconds and 5mph slower then the new Viper in the quarter. If it gets the 500 horses it should be able to beat it. The old Z06 was a lot cheaper as well.

Same here....the vette gives u the best bang for ur buck.....I hope they dont price this car like they did the old zr-1's back in the day....i have heard rumours on the corvette forum that the c6 zo6 is gonna be in the viper price range

I am sure the new Z06 will beat the old Viper but in my opinion Dodge is a step ahead and always have been with the Viper to the Vette, I am sure there will be a new Viper for 2006 but I do also agree for the cost and performace, the Vette is defiantely a better deal. At any rate I would love to have either car

...thats would suck!I keep hearing similar... base price about 15k higher then a c6 coupe. probably around 65k USD. cheaper then a new viper... but the gap is closing.
