these are VERY nice headeres !!

but u wont see ANY gains from them over ur FLPs .. unless u buy the optional High Velocity Merge Collectors...

u'll only see noticable gains from 1 7/8 headers if u go with a power adder, massive heads / much bigger cam IMHO

I want stainless I've seen some nasty *** FLP's when rusted and equal lenth...looks better...besides I want to go true duels and the race version no emission stuff...hassle...these aren't LT1's...an hour out an hour in...simple. I like my FLP's...but I don't like the y-pipe and the emission crap

You'll probably have a overall power loss if you switch to the big headers.
There is a guy in the lower mainland that runs 10's with a 383 NA and he only uses headers with 1 5/8" primaries. 1 3/4" are more then enough. Power is all about air flow and air velocity

Stainless does help with power we learned that in our Recip cource, but yeah FLP's that Payam has I can do 20 mins in 20 mins out, I did them probably over 10 times in my 93, I took them out sooo many times, probably took them out 4 times just to port that is one thing I loved about those FLP's, wayyyy too easy to put in & out, now my SLP's, thats a different story all together but I like them more, seeing my SLP's with not a spec of rust makes me feel happy.

Ok
Mike
What are you going to shoot for power wise are you going to use nitrous?

From talking to Dyna tech when I was dealing with them they said that the 1 7/8 headers are good for when you are getting into serious hp (not to be rude) but you have not hit it yet. Now if you have a 436 ci bored stroker planned I would change my note. I would keep the flp's and just fabricate a new Y pipe. Use something like 3" as the flp y pipe is one of the downsides of the system and chokes it all down.

Now for the merge collector thing. They are good for a lil bit of hp IF you have maxxed out the induction and everything is perfect gains were told to me to be in the 7-8 hp range this is for Circle track racers who are trying to get every last ounce of hp out. Now you will be crapping out the gains of the merge collectors and waisting money if you are going to put on a y pipe and catback setup.

Will you gain hp from using stainless doubtful imo.
If you want bigger headers you might look at a stepped setup (1.75-1.875) Bottom line Is Me personally i feel you will be waisting money where as you can make a y pipe fairly cheap and get great gains from that. Or just drop off the y pipe all together loose the weight of the cat back and run open headers

PS. You probably won't see any gains though.
