Anybody know anything about ICBC discounts?
Anybody know anything about ICBC discounts?
I'm 18, been driving for 2 years and have a 10% discount. No claims on my insurance. What % does the discount go up by every non-accident year?

but, it doesn't matter, icbc will rape you, no matter what
Re: Anybody know anything about ICBC discounts?
Used to go up by 10% a year....no more. 5% now.
http://www.icbc.com/Insurance/insura..._crscalPU.html Here is the scale. You'll get another discount when you're 26 if nobody driving your vehicle has less than 10 years driving experience. It's only about $30 a year.
Don't forget the $6 anti-theft discount.
Once you get a dozen or so years of no accidents, you'll be able to get a free at fault accident and not have your rates go up...This means I could T-bone Jimbo and not have my rate go up. Hahahahaha.

If you use it on Jim - I should be safe.
I remember when I got my license, it was 10% a year - by the time I was 20 I had my 40%!

Also back then it wasn't required to actually have a vehicle insured to get the 10%..........these days it is, and it's only 5%!

So a person back then could get thier license at 16 - never drive - and at 20 get 40% off because they are "safe".

F*ck they want 3800 a year on the Corolla XRS I have on order.
That's with my 10%. It has 170 so they think it's like a f*cking Ferrari or something.

Import cars are much more commen thefts so even cheap ones will have relatively high premiums...
For everyone bitching, we have it pretty good here for insurance (basically a crown corporation, which doesn't treat new drivers all that badly). every cent made by ICBC finds its way back to the public in some way or another assuming no corruption.

Re: Anybody know anything about ICBC discounts?
If you bitch about insurance and you have over 30% discount then the error is on your part, if it's too expensive then don't get collision, I've never had collision and my insurance is only $110/month with 1 million liability, 200 deductable, fire theft etc.... So I insure two cars, If I were to get collision and 2 mill liability, sure my insurance would go up, but thats why I don't do it, just drive safer. Collision is only if you hit someone and want ICBC to repair your car, Unless your car is worth over $50,000 I don't see the point, if you crash the car and want them to fix it you pay:
Crash reponsibility
Deducable
Loose your discount
Premiums go up
At the rate of 5% a year, heck you'll pay more for the repair in the end. And if it's a big accident, looking at the value of our cars, you do the math and by the time you come out winning the car is written off LOL.
If you repair the car your self then everything stays, even if you hit someone and fix their damage then everything stays, and if you want them to fix the other person's car because it's your fault, well, collision has nothing to do with it, regular insurance will do that.

Can't afford to comprimise the reliability of an F-bod. I would love to have one, but I work far away 5 days a week and need something to get me to both jobs that won't suddenly need an opti-spark or something.
Besides the Corolla XRS ain't bad, it has the suspension mods + 0.5" lower, the Celica GT-S engine and a 6-speed.
