Although I've seen that quite a few times - I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
Great vid.
Thanks for the reminder.

Cool vid.

Interesting specs:

---------------------------------------
2003 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
---------------------------------------
Powertrain: 2WD, rear-drive
transmission: 5-speed automatic (manumatic control)
rear tires: 265/35ZR18

Displacement: 5.4L
Compression Ratio: 9.0:1
Power adder: helical supercharger w/intercooler
Valves per cylinder: 3 (SOHC)
HP: 469 @ 6100

MSRP: $78,370

---------------------------------------
2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra
---------------------------------------
Powertrain: 2WD, rear-drive
transmission: 6-speed manual (T56)
rear tires: 245/45ZR17

Displacement: 4.6L
Compression Ratio: 8.5:1
Power adder: Eaton helical supercharger
Valves per cylinder: 4 (DOHC)
HP: 390 @ 6000

MSRP: $34,750 (in coupe)

Missing 80 hp, and the manual tranny made this a easy call I suppose. But I'd like to see what the Cobra's hp limit is compared to the AMG. I wonder what it costs (if its possible) to find someone who can tune the AMG's computer.

Of course for 80 G's I'd just be happy with it for smoking M5's and Vipers.

Great vid and nice kill of the Cobra. Supercharge your car like the Cobra and the snake isn't so hot. Filter rocks too. If I bought a Mercedes I'd go SLK.

They cobra from the video with its modifications would be at about 460-475rwhp. On a side note, both cars where using drag radials.

Given a better driver in the Cobra, I think it would win.

I dunno man. A 6-speed vs an 5-speed automatic? Never heard of a driver that could throttle a perfect launch and shift faster than an automatic.

To be fair though, the E55 is ~400 pounds heavier. So it could be possible I guess (assuming the hp levels are about the same after mods to the Cobra). Guess we'll just have to wait for an update...

E55 AMG: 4,087 curb weight
Cobra: 3665 curb weight

Z06: 3118 curb weight (and ~0.4s faster than a stock Cobra. )

I don't think the Cobra would stand a chance even with a perfect driver - it wasn't really all that close.

All Mercedes start in 2nd and then down shift to first if there is enough throttle applied. Their traction control is also a huge problem for those cars...it comes on too easy

Anyways, its easy for a guy driving a 500hp (Cobra) car with a 6 speed to loose to an auto with WAY more traction. It's sooo easy to light up those tires. My buddy has an 03 Cobra with those same mods (put down 475rwhp) and he runs 13.5's Burns rubber at mid track! With a good driver and a bit more traction, he would be deep 11's

is that a joke? why would you buy a slk when you can get either a sl500 or sl55......unless your talking about price!

I thought the new S series is SLK, I'm wrong and stand corrected Todd, thanks man. It's the convertable Compressor I like, not sure what model it is though. I think it's the S55 Compressor, it nosed me out in a race. Classy sporty fast car and I love the power roof. Out of my price range unless someone blows out a used one.
