Unhappy Am I getting ripped off???

I'm tossing the idea of trading in the WS6 and the dealer is gonna give me $16000 for it. Is this something decent from a dealer or should I just try and sell it privately? They said the "high black book value" was $12000!!! I managed to get them up to $14000 plus the taxes bringing it to $16000. Is this something I should be jumping on or saying no way??
Its a 99 WS6 M6 with about 90000kms on it. The whole car is in great shape...Zedzag and Twitch I'm sure can vouch for it! Lemme know what you all think (sooner the better...I have an '04 Renegade I'm trying out until Friday afternoon!). Thanx in advance for the input!!

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

Yea, it is kinda low...

BUT, i just spent some time considering selling my 95 Z-28 and buying a LS1 car.

Its not hard to find a 99-00 SS/WS6 for 12-13k US from a private seller. Thats about 15-16k CAD, but without tax.

I think if you could get 16k + your tax its a much better deal. But even then it seems a bit low... Its sad how cheap these cars go for when you want to buy one

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

Yeah I was thinking it was kinda low but I haven't had much luck selling it privately...obviously asking WAAAAAAY to much!!
Hey Jeff, I'll give ya a good deal on a great LS1...
I dunno, this Renegade I'm trying out now is pretty sweet as well...definantly no power monster but a sweet ride nonetheless to go bushwackin'!!!
Who knows....I have a day to sort it all out!

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

hehehe

sadly for me, my car isn't worth selling... needs some body work, and paint if I was to sell it, and even then i'd only get 10-12k if i was lucky... and thats after sinking 3k worth of paint and body work into it

but good luck with the sale! you shouldn't have trouble selling your 99 for 16k+tax or more in the buy and sell!!

It sounds like they are trying to give you wholesale for your car.

If they have come down substantianlly on their vehicle then I can see them loballing you, if not then it doesnt give them any excuse to bring out the book.

Ask how much more they would give you if they were getting full tag price for their vehicle.

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

They never really budged on the price of the Renegade. The only bargaining they really did was on the trade-in value for my T/A and that was only a couple grand at best!

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

Too low IMO. Have you tried I know you were asking to much in the paper but if it were me I'd relist around 20 and go from there. The Renegade is new so they'll have more.

Try Carter chrysler they may be able to give you more because they can always pawn it off next door to Carter G.M.

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

the ONLY reason you should ever think about trading in a car is if the dealer is going to take huge amounts off the new car's price... i really doubt its gonna be worth it for you to trade it in, and yes, $16k is too little for that car...

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

I'm thinking somewhere between 22 and 24 would be a good deal for you and a fair price for someone else to pay.

Twenty would be an even deal for both parties.

Re: Am I getting ripped off???

Thanx for the input guys. Its kinda what I was expecting...it floored me at the dealership when he said "high black book value $12000". I'm bringing the Renegade back tomorrow and gonna try the private sale instead. I'm in no rush to sell but would like something to strap the kayaks to and go "off the beaten path" this summer!
