Almost overheated today!
On my way to work today, which is only a 5 min drive plus the 5 mins I take to warm the car up everyday regardless of outside temp, the check gauges light came on which really grabs your attention. I looked at my gauges and noticed the temp was getting close to the red zone!!!
I immediately pulled over, parked the car and got out to see if I was leaking any coolent or if the electric water pump disc. No sighns of that, so I just left the car in ignition while the motor was off so the wp could cool the car back down.
30 mins later I came out on my break and took the car out for a 20 min drive and everything seemed cool, scuse the pun. I really don't know what it could have been, wp connection disc temporarily or thermostat went or fans? Now everything seems ok I just wish I knew what happend so I can make sure it dosen't happen again.
Any insight?

are you using a fial safe thermo? did you move any of the wires around the water pump? maybe the sensor on the waterpump that turns on the fans had a loose wire? but you say you were driving around right? that should have kept the rad cool, so perhaps its the csi?
do you have a cat? How old is it? How many mile on the car? The same thing happened to me when I was going 120km/hr over the Alex Fraser. Made no sense to me until two weeks later it happened again. Turned out the cat was busted and was blocking the exhaust from getting out. Got rid of that and no problems
no its his csi like i suggested, it didnt make any sense that he was over heating while driving and hes using a fail safe thermo. somethings wrong with the wiring or something and the csi quit on him. hes fixing it now.
