Aircare to reduce rates
Aircare to reduce rates
As said in my local paper:
Woop-dee doo!:blah:
Won't happen.
What a load of crap!
Theives and crooks they are!
Translink will recommend Aircar test fees be dropped from $24 to $23, and from $48 to $47 bi-annually for 1992 and newer vehicles, at is open board meeting nxt week.
It's all part of the transportation authority's plan to reduce the vehilce emission testing program's $6.7-million surplus
The new measures are expected to reduce the surplus to about $2.8 million by Aug. 31 2006

When asked wheather the surplus would be returned to drivers if the program is shelved, TransLink board said the goal is to continue to reduce the amount over time.
Theives and crooks they are!
I can't believe I have to air-care my 02 f-body. We all know it will pass, what one year old car wont?
You shouldn't have to test a new car for air-care for at least three years, just another government cash grab. What about trucks and SUV's? They are judged by a different standard than cars, they pass air-care and pollute the air way more.

Fees cut, exemptions extended for AirCare
VANCOUVER (CBC) - Faced with a surplus for the Lower Mainland's AirCare program, the TransLink board has decided to reduce inspection fees.
The cost for 1991 and older vehicles will be $23 for annual emissions testing, rather than the current $24. The fee for inspecting 1992 and newer vehicles will drop from $48 dollars to $47 – tested every two years.
Owners of new vehicles are also going to get a break on AirCare testing.
The TransLink directors have voted to extend the exemption of new vehicles from two years to three years.
The budget surplus is the result of an increase in the number of cars and light trucks being tested.
Of the 778,000 vehicles tested last year, 84 per cent passed inspection.
